Sunday would be great for me, I'm in for riding anywhere at all. Also I was wondering if anyone would ever want to ride to Gabrieski airport. There's a great restaurant there I used to go to when I would instruct. That could be any other day or weekend or whatever.
lunch @ gabreski would be cool, we could troll some obscure areas in moriches that i know from fishing the area, smiths point and ocean area. roads nowhere near as nice as north, but thats ok.
any further east, though and we'll hit the famous hamptons traffic jams so i'd dissuade from there this weekend. hamptons and montauk would be great after labor day when crowds thin out.
weather shows friday, saturday AND sunday look good.
any preferences? hell, i'm going to try all 3 as it looks right now.
i'm on last phase of VFR renewal, replacing the stock rear fender. the underseat exhaust which i removed, used a pan. i'm putting it all back to stock, the fender incorporates 50 pieces of hardware, the battery box, and wiring nests. its a little tricky, time at a premium right now, but thursday nite, looks like it'll be ready.
I'm thinking I'm going to try and head out Friday morning to ride, have to be back in city not too late because the gf and I are planning on heading to Coney Island for a Cyclones game, but I should be around a while to ride. Then Saturday is the anniversary so I have to cook dinner, etc. so for me Saturday looks like I'm out. Probably have major problems if I turn down spending the day with her for riding. Sunday however looks wide open for me so I'll ride Sunday as well.
Next weekend I'll be on LI the whole time because I have to dog sit for my parents so I plan on doing a whole lot of riding that week, weekend, pretty much any chance I get. I haven't ridden since Monday and I'm going through some withdrawal already.
an update...the VFR is done. returned back to stock. rear fender , battery and associated electrics and wiring was kinda tricky in that i wasn't the one who removed it, i had no reference point. anyways, its serviced, cleaned, back to showroom stock, and solo seat cowl is on...pending some local test riding tommorrow (got the day off!) it'll be my ride of choice for sunday.
You guys want to come down to NJMP? Millville NJ. We're there three days, Sat-Mon. Hang out, check out the place and how a track day goes. 8) I'll be there doing my class so if you come out, make sure to look me up, say hi! I'm bike #53 and my truck will have a TPM coach sign with my name and #53, sitting on the tailgate.
If you do make it before lunch you could take a few laps at the lunch break. 8) They call it "Try the Track". A few laps behind a coach at somewhat civil speeds to get a feel of what it's like out there. Be careful, you may get hooked. Also, word has it there may be a real live celebrity there Sunday and Monday (other than me, of course). No, really. A true international riding legend... if he makes it.
thanks for the invite dad. i am "shaking out" my new to me VFR this weekend. just finished it, its a unknown, so no out of state ventures just yet. however, that IS why i got it so i'll take you up on that invite sometime during the summer. i'm sure some of the others would join me. meeting up would be 8)
and i think Labor day weekend the AMA boys are there.....hmmmm.
my neighbor is gonna be doing a trackday at NJMP, i still don't have the proper gear but will def get on that!
as for this ride, is the plan for me to meet sprinkster by his house, then together we go to meet eeyore by that DD in merrick, and then the 3 of us ride out to meet ducatiman at cold spring harbor??
is bluremi joining, or bellavus, or any other LI regulars that we can meet with along the route
If you did decide to do a full day, taking the ART Level I School for first time track riders, all of the gear you need, except helmet, is included free of rental charge. 8) Just the basic $250 or so fee that's for the school and track fees. Rental gear is free including leathers, back protector, boots, and even gloves if needed. All but your helmet and bike.
Y'all have fun on your ride! Maybe another day we will all meet at the track... watch Brooklyn burn it up! 8) ;D
i could imagine man, well you did it Lets hope everything stays good an solid, BTW i was referring to Brooklyn in regards to the time he would be coming here to swing by and take me up to D&D's
The general part was were we all definitely going to be riding on Sunday?
just got back from 20 mile local shakedown ride ....... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
WOW
comparing to Duc heavier, slower steering & directional changes. its got suspension! and a _real_ seat! much more legroom and overall comfort. no surprise there. the duc has its great attributes, shines in short twisty rides. the VFR is a no brainer for longer distance or all day rides.i kinda knew this goin in. ITS A KEEPER.
Sweet, looks great! Brook, Sprink, I have my bike in NYC with me this weekend so I'll stop by Sprink's on the way so lets all meet up there. Does between 8 and 8:15 work? Then onward to see the might VFR!
