Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

Well hello everyone. I pretty close to downtown Indy, and would be down to ride any time after I get a new tank and lights on my bike. Got a huge hole in my tank (which has a crappy supppppppper thick rattlecan paint-job on it), so I'm just going to toss it out and try to find a new one and all the lights need replaced due to being broken, or just generally looking pretty worn out. Anyone know somewhere local that can swap the tires for less than $40 a rim though? I ordered a set of drag specialty tires, but don't want to spend $80+ tax to have them mounted.

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

Welcome! I'm about 90 miles from Indy. Not sure about a shop that will do the tires... I've only put stock tires on my bike and did that myself. We should all get together this summer and do something...

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

I definitely would love to have some people to ride with, but gotta get my bike a little prettier before everyone makes me look bad on their nice bikes, and me on my "throw-together" bike. hahahaha But I would definitely be interested in a ride or get together for later on in the Summer.

Anybody going to be doing the Ride for Riley this weekend?

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

Hey mine isn't so nice either. The front fairing is rattle can black with zip tie stitches holding it together. Oh and a piece of duct tape on the front lol. Also the front turn signals are held on with electrical tape....

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

Mine too... I had to repair some cracks in the front fairing and right side piece, as well as straighten out the front subframe (it's still a little wonky). And my bike didn't even have turn signals when I got it. I've got the cheapo stick on flush mounts now. I'd be up for meeting for a ride sometime too...

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

Hey guys, I live in Indianapolis, I consider it Avon though. Right off of Raceway. I haven't really found anyone to ride with yet so I'd be down for a ride sometime. And yeah I'm sure all of your bikes will look mint compared to mine with missing decals, fairings missing chunks, zipties, ducktape, oh and my left turn signal is apparently a right turn signal and hangs down all sad and droopy. (all done by previous owner). Get at me if anyone wants to get out. Also does anybody know some good roads around here? Best I've found is 39 connecting Danville and Plainfield, and some other roads near Greencastle (about an hour west of here).

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

No instant messaging services here. I just order quite a few of the more important parts to get my bike back together the way I want it and picked up some parts to get it running better from Cycle Recycle here in Indy. If anyone is ever in need of a starter solenoid, they have them brand new for $44 something plus tax, which is less than half what the Kawa dealer wanted... Still need to find some miscellaneous things, speedo, headlight, turnsignals, insurance and plates... Should be back on the road within the next couple weeks hopefully, may not have gotten the bike to the body shop to be painted by then, but at least I'll be able to have a little fun before I have to wait to get it back from there...

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

Anybody else getting tired of the weatherman lately? They've been forcasting rain for like two weeks now and it barely even rained last week. I've been leaving the bike at home because I don't have a good rain suit, but darnit it never rains. What good is a weekend without riding anyways?

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

I rode mine today and had to actually use the emergency stop I learned in MSF. Thankfully I knew what to do. There's a storm brewing here. I just got done working on the Ninja, trying to install LED flush mounts in the front and a new flasher unit. The flasher unit is apparently the wrong one since I get rapid flash still.

It seems like it may be the only type of meet up ever possible. You get free tornadoes for life if you live in INDY!

My gas tank and some other important parts should be here on Tuesday. I'm rebuilding the front and rear end of the bike right now though, so now it will be delayed a little longer from making it onto the road again...

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

Haha I know it. My gloves have rubber strips on the backside and I use it to wipe the rain off of my shield. Pretty nifty if you're caught in the rain. Speaking of...there's a huuuuuuge long storm just north of me. Stretches from the edge of Kansas to the other side of Indiana! Glad it missed us but then again maybe it would have cooled things off here! Anyway, hurry your a$$ up so we can get together for a ride lol

*Edit* Correction - It's storming here now. Awesome!

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

I'm in the heart of Indy. I got awful weather last night too... At least this one only took a couple hours to go by and it was done. Not like some of these all day rains, or 30 min. with 5" of rain falling types of days. hahaha

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

Anybody interested in riding to Chicago Sunday or Monday weather permitting? I've been wanting to go for a while. I'm on a budget too so it would be a cheap trip, more sightseeing than anything. Maybe spend $30 while there. If not Chicago I may head out th Brown County. But seriously it would be nice to have some one to ride with.
I'm on the west side of Indianapolis near Avon. I don't mind meeting halfwy either.

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

That could be fun! I live just west of Terre Haute, IN. Like 20 miles in. We could meet in TH or here in Marshall if I was able to go....

My a$$ would never forgive me though lol. My seat kills me after 50 miles. So would you want to take a scenic route? Like all highway and backroad or? Interstate all the way would be kinda boring and ...well it would probably just suck.

I'm on a budget too...probably wouldn't want to spend a whole lot. I for sure won't be shopping for anything.

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

You both make me sad my bike isn't finished yet. Got a new set of carbs in today, now I just need to get rid of some of the old parts to have $$$ for the new ones and I could have my bike back together in the next couple weeks for a nice long ride with everyone in the area that can/wants to. Hope you have an awesome ride. Be safe.
