My a$$ would never forgive me though lol. My seat kills me after 50 miles. So would you want to take a scenic route? Like all highway and backroad or? Interstate all the way would be kinda boring and ...well it would probably just suck.

I'm on a budget too...probably wouldn't want to spend a whole lot. I for sure won't be shopping for anything.
I'll get back to you more tonight or tomorrow, I'm pretty busy right now. I'm thinking scenic would be the most fun though. Any good roads that you know of?
I think a friend of mine in Greencastle might want to go too. We are both 20, if you're comfortable riding with us, I certainly don't ride stupid at all and am pretty cautious, I haven't ridden with him though. I believe he rides a 1000 of some sort but he seems to have a pretty good head on his shoulders. I'll post more info later...

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

Yeah I don't see why we couldn't meet in Marshall or Terra haute, I love riding on 40 and through TH anyways, it would be just another fun part of the trip. I still need to figure out some nice roads to take out there so if you have any suggestions let me know. The way I figure is we ride up there, prolly take a few stops on the way, go and see the pier, a cool place to eat, and maybe something else cheap and fun to do, and then ride back. I don't mind riding in the night a little bit but would prefer not to be out at midnight on roads I'm not familiar with. And it looks like Sunday will probably be the best day to do this, only a slight chance of rain. So if you're interested send me a PM or reply here and we will work out the details.

Looks like the trip is off. I can't go now and it's supposed to rain all day. Maybe you guys have time to get yours going so we all can go for a trip.

Is anybody still up for a ride? I don't really have the EX anymore but I wouldn't mind meeting with some of you and going for a cruise.

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

That's a GREAT looking bike you've got now. All I'm missing now to get the beast back on the road is lights, tail fairing, battery, and new bowl gaskets for the carbs. It'll be multi-color probably for this ride, but I'd love to meet up for a ride say... Mid-August? I have a wedding I apparently HAVE to go to next weekend and will be kayaking the first weekend of August, but possibly the weekend of the 14?

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

Sounds good to me Catholic, and BTW... Just checked out the pictures of your bike, and it's looking pretty bad ass. Hows the GSXR shock? I went with a used Ohlins rear shock and hopefully I'm going to try to put the rear end back together this evening.

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

Hey do any of you have any shops in central Indiana you recommend? (preferrably west side). Not for me but a buddy who got a nail in his tubed tire of his Honda 750.

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

It's the eastish side just a little ways out of downtown Indy, but Cycle Re-Cycle Part 2 does tire changes for $12 per wheel... Unlike Flatout who wants $40 per wheel!!!! I'm guessing he just needs a new tube put in and the tire re-mounted? Their prices are EXCELLENT!

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

Dude thanks so much, that sounds like just the deal he's looking for. Hopefulu just a new tube, it was a big ass nail though. I went over to help him patch the tire and then saw the spokes, I was like "uhh yeah you're not gonna be riding that today". Dude loads it onto a trailer, doesn't tie it down correctly, it falls over, he looks back and then slams his 86 3500 into an intrepid in front of him. He's hving a bad week so I'm trying to save him some money haha

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

^^^ DAMNIT

on a lighter note, the gixxer shock is phenomenal. really feels 10X better. it just amplifies the front suspension, and how crappy it is though. that will be this winter i suppose lol.

cycle re-cycle II is awesome. the guy is pretty helpful, but he can be a real asshole if you dont let him tell YOU what is wrong with your bike lol. anywho, i didnt know that they were that cheap, thats awesome! anywho, best of luck to your friend!

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

Hahahahaha... He is DEFINITELY an asshole. He treats everyone who comes in there like an idiot... I walked in there one day a looking for a set of handlebars, and he started on that high and mighty tone of voice and I just cut him off and told him exactly what I needed and asked him where abouts it was and I would dig through and find it myself. He tossed me a set of crappy plastic calipers and I went scavenging.

On the subject of the front suspension... GSXR USD FORKS!!!! DO IT!!! hahaha I considered doing a swap to USD forks, but went another direction. You'll get to check out some of my handy work whenever we meet up for a ride though.

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

I think he's headed over to cycle recycle II tomorrow. I'll warn him about the customer service. I'm jealous of both your suspensions, I'm still stock in that regard hasn't bothered me yet though... Maybe if I had ridden any other street bike I would realize what i'm missing out on

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

I've been trying to call Cycle Recycle alllllll day with no luck. Busy signal every time. Any of you have a 1st gen and done the tapered head bearing swap? I'm in DESPERATE NEED of a tapered bearing kit so I can get the front end on. The whole front end is assembled and just waiting to be slipped into place if I could find the kit!

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

yeah, sorry no dice on the tapered bearing. My buddy called the shop though using the number you listed on here, he said they told him they won't put a new tube in his tire, so we are still looking for a place to do it. Can't imagine why they wouldn't though, according to their site they specialize in vintage bikes, which would be tubed mostly...

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

Sorry about that. That doesn't make any sense. I have no idea why they wouldn't put a new tube in... Have you considered just trying to do it yourselves? Shouldn't be too hard.

Well, stupid question but do mc tires have to be mounted with a bead sealer? Because I don't own one hah

Found a youtube video for you to check out. Shows how to change a tubed tire with basic things that just about anyone has in their garage...

Wow that looks way easier than I thought. A bit tedious, but doable. I'm going to suggest to him we go that route. Thanks man.
