Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

I'm in Crawfordsville (about 40 minutes NW of Indy off of I74). I'm still a couple weeks away from a running bike, though. Hopefully all will will go according to plan and I'll be riding soon. First time on a street bike, but I've got a few years in on dirt.

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

Roger that. I am usually free if my woman can leave me alone long enough. :P I got the tach straightened out, but I have to figure something out for a new front. I've been doing a little customization lately. I hope I can ride before snow falls.

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

Crap, I keep forgetting about this thread. My apologies. Did you figure out what was wrong with your bike, Xander? Mine is about ready to ride now, but the weather is getting crappy. Yesterday was nice though and it was the first time i've ridden in about a month. Was SO wonderful! It's pretty weird not having a front fairing on though. It feels a little more "free". (Pretty cool)

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

bike is still down....not sure why it wont start. Replaced the battery and cleaned the carbs...still getting the clicking sound that makes me think the battery is dead. Please point me in the right direction... if not its going to s&s and burning a whole in my wallet.

....and warmer.

Xander - No idea buddy. Sounds to me like an electrical issue though if the starter does the awful clicking that I absolutely hate. (I need a new battery too - Goes dead somewhat quickly)

If the battery is old or of unknown age, replace it. Check that all connections are corrosion free and tight. Check the starter side connection, too!

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

talked to a guy over the weekend...he thinks the starter in locked out. Not sure what that means but he made sure that it costs a lot lol...im gonna pull the starter next weekend and see if i can fix it, if not, replace it. Bonus my new tires and brakes come in so I will have a new desire to get it running soon.

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

its the starter. what year is the bike?

i burned my starter up once bc the starter button got held down for like a solid minute.

yours has probably just burnt up, and now it doesnt have the torque to spin the motor. check on ebay for one, if you go used, go for a newer model year like...04 and up

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

My bike is an 06. I guess one of the kids messed with it. I pulled the starter last weekend. i got a guy in my unit that says he can get one for 20-30 bucks. I still need to price em. Thanks for that advice tho. I was thinking it was a battery issue for the longest time.

Re: INDIANA: Greenwood/Indianapolis

woohoo bike is up and running strong. just in time for good weather. Starter was stuck in the open position. Buddy of mine reset it and engaged it multiple times with no issue. I checked the fluids and charged the battery. All in all it was a good learning experience and i am ready to ride.
