Young person motorcycle insurance.........

I'm looking at getting insurance for David (16) for his 50cc trails bike. Now I know young kids are a high risk and all but the quotes I am getting back for him for TPFT are crazy, all around the 1,000 mark, and that's with a typical excess of 500. I've tried Carole Nash, Bikesure etc. Many companies refuse to even give a quote!

So does anyone know of any (specialist?) insurers who might take just an arm and a leg, rather than dismembering my entire body? I want him to have his own insurance so he starts to build no claims which will benefit in the long run.

I have looked at waiting until he's 17, but that only makes about 100 difference for a 50cc, and for a 125 premiums start at 1,700......

2000 D7, K&N air filter, Delkevic exhaust system, Hagon rear shock.
