This is not a correction, just want to quietly state, all EX500's have cv carbs.

2006 Ninja500R Purchased new July 2006, 0 miles. Miles as of January 2017 88652. It is a GO bike, not a SHOW bike.

^ No problem, sometimes you have to take the monkey with a grain of salt.

K&N jet kill
K&N is a brand.
The filter is the air one.

Your previous owner...

Prefer to take the monkey with a nice Chianti myself.
Bavarian Banshee likes this.

@jackal
Fava beans and a nice Chianti? Haha

@Bavarian Banshee
Yes, K&N makes a jet kit and jet kits work well.... in carbs they're SUPPOSED to be in.
A jet kit in the EX500 is pointless.
Because it has CV (constant velocity) carbs. Big world of difference from CV carbs versus flat side carbs.
CV opens the jet needles with vacuum, flat side carbs open the jet needles directly with a cable.

Now, EX500, from the factory, runs a bit rich. All of them. Gen 1, Gen 2, US, UK, Europe, North America, Asia..... ALL of them.
Adding a jet kit is making the main jets bigger.... bigger means MORE fuel at WOT (wide open throttle).... and if it's already running rich at WOT then why would you add BIGGER main jets?

The reason for airbox modification (FOG mod) is to bring lean the rich mix out.
Then adjust the mix via my instructions in the Wiki, TASK 9.1
The mix asjustment handles the air/fuel ratio at idle, and just off idle until the jet needles and needle jets take over delivery of fuel.
