Warm weather

The motorcycle gods have smiled upon us this day in northwest Ohio with a 70 degree day in February. I wanted so bad to ride into work tonight but 40 degrees when I get off work was....less than appealing.

I live in CA and I had a mid-30F morning today when I started my bike to work. But highs are in the 50s.

NC, it's been in the low to upper 70's for the past two weeks.
Lows in lower 50's.
By 1000 hrs this morning it was already 74.

40's.... Pffftt... just ride.
I've ridden home years ago from 3rd shift in 14 degrees. Haha
Just the beginning of Feb I rode 30 miles home from a get together at my mother's... Around midnight and temps had dropped to upper 20's when I left.

Lol I'm slow to get going. By years end I'm bundled up riding in frigid temps. Or until they start putting salt\brine on the roads.

Luckily they only salt the roads about once, MAYBE twice, a winter here.
We usually don't get much snow or ice... contrary to all the folks believing the end of world is happening when an inch or two falls. Haha
It practically shuts the Charlotte area down and tons of people manage to test out their ditch digging/cleaning capabilties of their vehicles.
Can't help but laugh at the idiots in FRONT wheel drive or the ones with 4wd who just can't seem to get the hang of it.

Been to Ohio enough when it was warmer (Cincinnati and Columbus) and the roads were crappy... seemed like a fair amount of winter weather and plow damage... freakin' potholes everywhere.
It'd drive me batty having to ride in the cold AND have to dodge that stuff all the time... all while in the dark.
More power to you.

I had a buddy that lived near Charlotte for a bit. I heard stories of people freaking out and forgetting how to drive when you get a dusting a snow. Yeah the roads in Ohio are just......shit. Like you said, plow damage galore. You also need to watch out for the loose gravel they put down when they dont want to drop salt. That stuff obviously doesn't wash away with the rain. I live in a mini housing development and the short street I live on is covered in stone. I' half tempted to go out and sweep the corners myself lol.

Yeah, I'd break out the push broom. I hate gravel.

When we get even a tiny amount of snow people freak the hell out.
Just stupid. I mean really, I could make the 15 miles of 2 lane country roads trip, up and down the hills, to work in a TWO wheel drive S10 and I had employees who lived IN TOWN less than 1/2 a mile away from the plant that "couldn't" make it in. I mean all they had to do was make it from their driveway, a few hundred yards to the main road that was plowed. Haha

But I don't commute anymore so it doesn't really matter.

It wasn't bad at all 30-some miles east of Charlotte, on the edge of the Uwharrie Mtns.

Oh man, I wish I could have made it out to Morrow Mtn - the roads there are a big step up from anything around Durham.

Haha!
Yup. About a half hour ride from me.
Not that far mile wise... about 20.
Which is "right up the road" around here.

I'm south-south west of it... pretty decent riding out here.

haha embrace the cold! Although I will admit commuting in Montana at -20 F riding becomes a bit painful.

but up here in the warm part of Alaska we only get down to about 0

You guys are crazy, once it's over 70 or so I hate it! Sweating into a helmet and having to peel a leather jacket off my back with a spatula when I get home is no fun at all.

It always at least 90 here in Florida, but at least it never hits freezing temp so its pretty much fair enough weather to ride all year round

When its cold out, I just dress in my heated top and bottom and put my Joe Rocket one piece motorcycle suit. We really only have 3 months where I dont ride because of ice and snow on the roads.
