We don't get the Walmart (Champion) brand ST7317 Supertech oil filters up here in Canada. Why not? Who knows. A few local stores sell them for about $12 with tax, but that's just crazy for a $3 filter.

Sooooo what I was wondering is if anyone would like to mail me a small box of them? 4 would be ideal, maybe 6. I would paypal you the cost of filters & shipping & if you want anything for your time.

Anyways, lemme know if you can help!

1 MEELION DOLLARS

No really though is this worth it? Isn't there a tax across the border? Shipping cost itself wouldn't be much, but there are a few filters that are just fine for this bike. It's not completely necessary to use the one that's most popular on this site. Hell I still use a FRAM.

Not if it's listed as a gift  Cool
Actually the SuperTech filters are made in the USA, so NAFTA saves me there. Plus with the local bought filters already costing about $7 tax in, I might just buy better quality filters for the same price.

Know what's sad? I haven't been inside the US for about 8 years. Yes I know. Know what's worse? The furthest East I've travelled in Canada is out to Quebec City. Furthest West? London Ontario.

You should be able to get decent oil filters shopping around. Once you factor in the HEFTY USPS shipping charges, its not worth it. Try Canadian Tire or NAPA. Even Kawasaki OEM filters will be cheaper than importing them.

I just priced out USPS shipping.. probably will be about $16 and could hopefully fit 6 filters. so roughly $8 a filter.. $9 Canadian. sigh, I thought that this would work out better but I guess not. I really need something better to do than sit around on the computer all weekend.

Now let's all just consider this a FAIL thread and move on! Embarrassed

@beyond cool, if you ride down in the spring maybe I'll join ya.

This is also why Pogo is restricted to the "Fram Buyers" Section of the website.  Upgrade today to an ex-500.com gold account by purchasing not a crappy filter Smiley

I'd love to help you, but I can only bring back a few each time I go, and I use them too quickly to share.

The Ninja takes the same filter as my roommates car, plus I need a seperate filter for my car. So i'm usually burning through 3 Supertech's a month, but only visit the states every 3 months!

Arg, really? Those used to be re-branded FRAM's (and those are pretty damn bad) but last I heard, production was moved to some Chinese factory that I cannot pronounce... no offence to the Chinese but...

Lol these filters are like crack. My dad uses them in his ST1300 so it's nice to just have the same filter for everything.

Dooo it! I'm going to ask around on GTAM (The Toronto motorcycle forum for non-Ontario riders) if someone is planning on going down. Last time I bought some from some dude that had brought up a couple dozen of them and sold them for $6 each. Fair deal IMHO.

Worst case, I guess I could just dig around and find my passport, burn off my fingerprints, and get some nifty fake contacts. Tongue American border security really infuriates me  Angry

Well what are the rules around importing those? No duty because they are made in America, is that what you said earlier?

So if I could bring in 50, I don't need to pay? Is that what I read?

My buddy is going to Pensayvania tomorrow, he's picking me up a bunch.

If I could bring them in without paying duty, I'd happily pick up extra's for you guys the next time I go, but if I get stung with duty, it kills the value to me.

Considering they cost $2.83 each, if I sold them to you for $4, I'd be covering my gas costs and time quite easily.

Group buy time!  Grin

I posted on GTAM so hopefully I'll get an answer soon. In the meantime, us Canucks in Southern Ontario might benefit from group buy on parts sometimes.

I'm going to need a few parts this spring to make sure I'm reliable as I head into the 100k mark - but I've kinda given up on the mail-order parts right now. I didn't really get good deals on the last two chain/sprocket kits I went through, when I only ended up paying 10 dollars more at the local shop and I got the parts within 2 days versus a week by mail.

But if you do want to organize a group buy and get some good rates on some of those regular wear parts, I'd probably be in.

Good parts though - after seeing the obvious quality differences between my current RK chain and my previous Regina and DID chains, I'm kinda sold on the RK.

Anyways, if simply driving them across the border in bulk proves impossible, somebody on here would likely agree to mail you some. I manage to get enough for personal use so far, but I don't want to push my luck putting a skid of them in my trunk.

What's wrong with Kawasaki's filters? I think the ones for the EX cost less than 50% of what I pay for the Honda ones.

Here they are 13.97 for a filter.  Shocked Shocked I guess because it says kawi on it.  2.97 for the same quality filter is a win in my book.

Come to think of it, I got my EX filter from the Honda dealership because I get a discount there. I think I paid $12 for it. My Honda one is around $20 (or thereabouts). I do use Honda filters, though.

Well if nobody goes before spring I'll go down to buffalo and buy out the stock at walmart. But I have no desire to go when I am not going to have the bike out for a month or so still. and it has relatively fresh oil now anyways (maybe 500km's on full synth)

Mid march I'd wager I could go, so let me know...

Do these filters add hp or something? Im just wondering why they are worth spending the gas money, travel time, and the extra 6$ a filter.
