Anyone out there interested in meeting up somewhere in the Orlando area or just north of Orlando area (nearer where I live anyway) to ride over to Daytona International Speedway to watch the vintage bike races? (AHRMA, American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association) on either March 1st or 2nd? (Monday and Tuesday of Bike Week)They call it vintage, but there is alot of modern stuff there including several ex500's I saw there last year. It usually cost $25 to get in the infield (it was $25 last year and year before that I went). This gives you access to almost all of the infield and the paddock. (same thing, that's the way it was last year and the year before) Also, out front just outside the speedway there is always all the vendors like Honda, Kawasaki, Ducati, etc.. which is totally free.

So, anyone interested in going? We could maybe meet up somewhere near either Sanford area or maybe Deland? A few suggestions anyway.

i think i'll be on this. flyin down 28th.....my brother (FLORIDAEX500 on this forum) and i will be going, though the method of getting there is up in the air. He has 2 EX's but STILL awaits title for 2nd (which i would be riding).

If no title, we drive. Regardless, will be at track for AHRMA races. maybe we exchange cell ph numbers via PM? and could hook up at track.

and smith p sean....would be cool to meet you as we've both been on here awhile and have had good rapport.

edited to add: i just found this tidbit....

Credentials—Sunday, February 28th,   8am. - noon, 1pm. - 4pm.  Credentials are required to enter the AHRMA paddock and hot pit areas.  Additional credential are available for purchase ($60) at Tech day or at Gate 40 Monday 6am-10am and Tuesday 6:30am – 9am.

i realize it contradicts erics original post here, thats why i posted. 60 steep for sure. eric paid 25 for infield and paddock, thats reasonable. either way, i'm still going.

next question...is that 60 for each  Shocked  or both days?  Sad

Okay guys. I remember it saying it was that much to get into the paddock area last year as well. But I just showed the guy at the gate my orange DIS ticket and he let me right in. What you do is ride in through the tunnel into the infield and you reach a point on the infield road where you pay a DIS attendent $25 cash and they give you a ticket (just an orange raffle type ticket) This gives you access to almost anywhere in the infield.  Just show your ticket to the gate gaurd if you want to tour the paddock area, that worked last year anyway. Worst case, you can't get into the paddock to see the bikes up close, but then its still only $25 that gives you all day access to the infield, not $60. I'd never pay $60 either. I do remember seeing people in the paddock area with some special "pit" badges on, maybe they payed the $60, but like I said I just showed my ticket and the gate guard let me in along with quite a few other people as well that I saw touring the paddock area. Now maybe the $60 pit pass is good for 2 days of the event, not sure. Call the speedway to find out if you really want to pay that much for the special badge which from what I saw didn't give you any more access then the plain general orange raffle type infield ticket. The $25 is supposed to only be good for 1 day though, but all you would have to do to regain entry is hold up the orange ticket to the attendant and they let you in, they never inspect it for the date. They didn't inspect it for the date when I left for lunch then came back in the same day last year, so...
