Leaking petcock

So my petcock is leaking it Appears to be leaking from the spacer in the middle when I switch the petcock to off it doesn’t leak . Gas is squirting out the side. Today I replaced diaphragm and spring and it’s not squirting anymore but when I touch around the bottom of screws from diaphragm side they are wet with gas I tightened down the screws snug didn’t want to over tighten as they didn’t feel super tight when took them off but maybe thAts why it was leaking

Tighten then, the diaphram is thin so it does not have a lot of meterial to seal with if its not tight. But not so much that the screws are ready to strip.

you've got the diaphragm housing oriented to the correct position?

^ Correct

2 plastic studs on the diaphragm plate must fit into 2 holes on the petcock body, and will only work one way.
Don't forget to put the spring back in.
