ZRX1100 Gas Tank

Heck of a long shot here, but anybody have a ZRX1100 gas tank laying around? Or maybe a better question, any other Kawasaki gas tanks collecting dust in your garage? What model?

Or conversely, anybody have one and can just put it up to the EX500 frame and tell me if you think that it could be made to fit on there with a little work?

Thanks!

Paul

Due to the twin spar frame of the EX, your selection of tanks is limited. Maybe a late 80s- early 90s GSXR tank, or Yamaha FZ or FZR tank, but they are gonna need some major massaging to fit - and the seat may never match up.

I know what you mean and I understand it’s a considerable undertaking. But the ZXR tank has “the look” so I'm interested to see exactly what it would take to make it work. I’m not beyond the idea of cutting and welding two tanks together.

The alternative is my original idea of adding faux “tank extensions” to the existing EX tank. Again, a massive project, but at this point I’m trying to figure out what’s gonna be easier.

Some years of the RZ tank look the part, but I’d prefer to stick with Kawasaki parts.

Then maybe a ZX-6R or ZX-7 tank.

I'm not at all sure which year exactly will work for what you are trying to do...but I think the GPZ 550 might do the trick.

The thing is, there is a tunnel right down the middle of the tank. It sits like saddle bags over each side of a central spine frame.

You'd need to cut the bottom out of the tank and one out of the bottom of an EX tank to then graft the two together. An amount of fabrication is certainly going to be required but I think that would be the easiest method for you to do what it is you want to do....sean

Sorta the shape you were looking for.

Wait! Here's one that might fit after a little cutting and welding and rattle-can paint.

Yeah, I mean something like that would be pretty incredible. That, or the GPZ750, ZG1000 Concours, ZX900, heck there's a good number of them that would be pretty great. I suppose it's just a question of if any of you guys here have one, or know where I can get one for cheap!
