help get a first time rider riding soon

I'm trying to get my first bike running. I bought this bike needing more repairs then I expected. I am trying to rebuild my carbs and not spend money at the Kawasaki dealer. $400 is the min quote I've got from them to clean/ balance my carbs. At that price I will never go to the dealer again.

I am looking for somebody to help guide me with rebuild / balance my carbs. I ordered a manual and still have to wait a week till I receive it (YUK!!!!!!).

I need a battery also. If anyone has an old good battery I'll buy it. Or a great deal on one I can buy.

I'm sure there are more parts to fix , but I need a lil help if I can get some.

I have a full faring kit in ok condition I will trade, sell, or install back on my bike as well. Tabs are broke off and the farings are really ugly rattle canned

I'm not a fan of new parts for an old bike that's gonna be used to learn on.

I want to get this bike ready to ride HWY101 down and then get across to AZ by sometime about August.

TY for looking Jon

Check the wiki for carb cleaning info. balancing the carbs can be done easy enough for cheap. long plastic flex tube, some fluid to put in it, and a board is all you need to balance them. chances are they are pretty close already so i suspect it's just going to be a matter of fine tuning the screw.

that should get you going.

as for the battery, don't buy someone's used battery. just get a new one from wally world or wherever they sell power sports batteries. i'd get one from a farm and fleet store because they are cheap, and reliable. It doesn't need to say Yuasa... grab the dimensions, take note of the location and polarity of the terminals and go hunting.

Re: help get a first time rider riding soon

I guess I should note
I completely took the carbs apart.
Seperated em apart and all. Have a new rebuild kit in hand. The O-rings are crackled and broken. (Oh and washers and bolts, etc cost over $2 a piece WOW.) As far as I can tell all I need those o-rings now and the specs/ know-how on the tuning these carbs.
I called a local guy and he will balance em for me at his shop. RRAmericanCycle Auburn, WA (for any needing a shop) Right now these guys are over loaded a few weeks.
There is quite a bit more to fix on the bike but I'm trying one at a time. I hate wally world LOL any local guy would make me happy. I miss small buisness. I like saving money bah ty on my way to wallys yuk lol

well you'll need assembled carbs before you can balance them. rough balance can be achieved through opening it up half way. then tune once it starts.

you can pay them for the balance, or you can DIY... your call. DIY is much more rewarding IMO.

If you can put the carbs back together, you can sync them. Go for it.
