2007 Kawasaki Ninja 500 "Brake Pad Quality" problems

A year ago spring(04-12-14) we purchased new brake pads(front & back) from Niagara Race Crafters INC. in Virgil, Ontario, Canada. I do not remember if the pads came in a box, bag or underneath a plasticized piece of cardboard. I do have the "Biil of Sale" though from Niagara Race Crafters. My son and I removed the brake calipers front and back, removed the pads, cleaned the slides and reinstalled the new pads. The bike ran like a top all last summer. Can't argue with almost 70 mpg. About 4 days ago I jumped on the bike and heard grinding. Stopped the bike and looked at back disc or rotor. The "outside surface" of the rotor looked like it had gouges in it. Took the bike home and removed the back wheel. Both sides had gouges in the rotor AND the brakes pads material was missing on both pads. Is this Niagara Race Crafters fault? Hardly...but my question is, is what NRC received,"Original Equipment Manufacturers" pads? Capitalism today is unethical and immoral. It wouldn't take much effort by some unscrupulous individual to have brake pads and other motorcycle parts manufactured with no or low manufacturing quality standards & checks in place to sell parts back to Kawasaki as ," Kawasaki Quality Parts". I can hear the Kawasaki Dealerships owners howling already but the facts are facts. A pair of Kawasaki? brake pads sheared away from the steel backing plates. The first set last 20,000 km. The second set didn't last 1000 km. I owned and drove a 1973 Kawasaki Z1 900 from 1977 until 1985. The quality of parts was second to none. What's happened? Pictures of the pads? [email protected]

Re: 2007 Kawasaki Ninja 500 "Brake Pad Quality" problems

Chinese parts. I live in south east Asia and Chinese parts branded as American, Japanese, Korean, German parts are very commonplace.

Price is a dead giveaway. I get a set of cheap china rears installed every now and again in a pinch for $3 here, and they last maybe 1500km then done. Good quality EBC will run much, much longer.

Then the other possibility is that with a change of shoe or boot you have been unwittingly dragging the rear for ages and worn out a set of good pads. Easily happens sometimes.
