Re: Where are you?
They were made in Japan, mine has that stamped just about everywhere. The newer ER650 is made in Thailand. I live in Cambodia. Mine was an import (listed as a 250 for tax reasons). Importer was a useless spoiled kid, dropped it, scared himself and went crying to mummy. Sold it to a nice English gentleman who was leaving in a hurry and sold his yellow (nothing it perfect) 06 to me for $1000. Bargain.
So far, my impression is, it's quick, not fast and heavy. It's not really much use to me, to be honest. The roads in Cambodia are some of the worst I've seen (I've ridden through the Middle East and around Asia so that's actually saying something) and it's hard to make any speed due to the terrible driving. The ground clearance is an issue, as is the lack of suspension travel.
Otherwise, liking the bike a lot. I'm used to sports bike and fancied it as soon as I saw it but my heart is in big enduro singles now.
Plan is to pop a more enduro friendly front end on and jack the rear up so it can handle life here a bit easier.
