Hello everyone, my name is Filipe. I joined a couple weeks ago but only now got around to introduce myself 🙂

I’m from Portugal and bought my 1987 EX500-A1 2 months ago. It was in a bit of a sorry state but mainly cosmetic. Engine sounds good and the previous owner even threw in an extra engine with the sale. 🙂

So far I’ve :

- Swapped the silencers for a couple of new looking OEM Kawasaki ones.
- Had to change left riser and bar as the ones on it were bent.
- Replaced all the bodywork bolts for proper ones (previous owner seemed to replace every missing bolt for whatever random one he had at home, including screws for wood, etc.
- Replaced Clutch lever for an OEM one since the one mounted was not original.

I’ve also applied thermal wrap to the pipes since they were a bit dented and that covers it up.

The belly pan is being repaired and resprayed.

Welcome. Wow that '87 in nice shape....32 years old, hard to believe. I consider a clean, factory clad Gen 1 a "late model classic" I trust you'll maintain and leave it be as is.

The wood screw in what other components was the guy into?
