Pulled over :(

Well... it finally happened.
I got my first speeding ticket on my bike! I was unknowingly doing 62 in a 45. I was listening to music and enjoying the great weather...didn't realize I was going as fast as I was. It felt like I was doing around 50. Sucks. Got pulled over by a Florida Highway Patrol. I know better than to speed through the area I was in but I was just too into the ride. Bye bye $256

I know that feel. Read the post whore thread

Money can't buy happiness. But it can buy a motorcycle. And you can't be sad on a motorcycle.

Re: Pulled over :(

I do not know how I have not gotten my first motorcycle speeding ticketl. But then people pass me all the time... so does that count?

If your court date is before the pay by date then consider showing up and asking the officer to reduce the fine. Don't go reading 10000000 ways to avoid a ticket.. just try to talk it down if possible.

Re: Pulled over :(

+1 on showing up to court. Often times they can work something out like subtracting the points or changing to a non moving violation.

Re: Pulled over :(

I was guilty but I was very respectful and apologetic to the troopers and they said set a court date since I have a good record and they would talk to the judge about getting the points dropped.

Re: Pulled over :(

First one? The small claims court judges are pretty funny guys. They know why you got the ticket, but usually are cool to taxpayers who have their first ticket. Best case its just court fees and your time ~$125.

I used to head to the local court for government class all the time. The excuses some people try to pass is hilarious.

Re: Pulled over :(

If you have not already, hire a lawyer. It's $69 and may be the only money you pay. Being found guilty of that ticket will cost more than court fees, you can count on your insurance going up for the next three years as well.

Re: Pulled over :(

It's my second ticket, first ticket on my motorcycle though. I'm gonna hire a lawyer and see if at the least the points can get dropped. I wasn't driving erratically or anything and like I said, I was respectful and apologetic. I think the trooper was really pleased by how I presented myself to him.
