Ride Report -- 130 Miles on Ducatiman Carbs

Today a friend of mine (and the previous owner of my 2006 Ninja 500R) and I went for a ride through Texas Hill country. CLICK FOR ROUTE MAP

Total we did about 130 miles or so, including the commute into work, and the trip home from Lockhart, TX. Some of that was on S.H. 130 which has an 85mph speed limit.

What I can tell you is, up top the bike pulls hard from idle all the way to 9800rpm or so. There were previously a few weird bits that might surge, or might not, depending on how the bike was feeling that day. All of those seem to be gone. Up at the top half of the band I had previously had instances where the bike would "hit a wall" that literally felt the same as bouncing off the rev limiter in a fuel injected car. That I'm thankful to say is completely gone.

Ducatiman may not have turned my 2006 Ninja into a rocket ship, but he certainly improved the overall package with his work on my carbs. Knowing what problems he discovered really was nice.

I'm not the first to say this, and I doubt I'll be the last, but if you're on the fence on whether or not to send him your carbs just do it. You'll likely be glad you did.

Is it weird that I almost sort of wish I had carb problems, only so I could get mine painted blue? Unfortunately(?) my bike runs great. Does seem to have slight weak spots if I hold that RPM and then slam the throttle open. Still has the caps on the pilot screws so I should probably look into that adjustment.
