Actually Iím not in the picture. The yellow car is a series 1 Lotus Elan circa 1963 the chick in the shades is my wife of 60 years ( now).
Back in the day world class racing was somewhat casual. We just camped in the paddock

I occasionally ride to the old Bridge... routinely bring younger EX folk too...as you know its a golf course now. The entry to the clubhouse brings you uphill, backwards from turn 1 up to the straightaway, actually riding on the old course.... I look, get a little emotional and sick to my stomach. Lotta good, fun and serious racing memories out there (though I was a spectator)

So sad its gone.

Word has it the clubhouse has an area devoted to old pics and memorabilia from the racing days. I'll have to get in there one o' these days.

Fog, I know you passed under this bridge many times. How 'bout posting some memories?

Hopefully my pic, it’ll make you smile because I swear I don’t get it either.
I have to manage attatchments.... copy, paste.... but I’m doing it from my phone so in order to do it I have to log out.... so say it with me.... not kidding.... MAJOR PAIN IN THE A**!!!
I’m old school, too, FOG.
I learned as a young buck..... how to work tools... make tools to make tools work for you. Don’t work a tool an early death.
Learn to to fix or do without.
Thank my great grand and grand parents for it.
I had the pleasure of actually knowing and being raised by my great grand parents and grand parents... we see the world in a similiar way.
Long story short....

O_E_M

Hopefully this made you smile.

Curious to understand how you got your VFR to that spot, Should be pointed the other way and going about 145 MPH .

Walking that spot after the Can Am race, the tire tracks ended under the bridge and didn't pick up again for at lest a hundred yards. This told me those cars were almost airborne at probably 180 at that spot, in spite of the monster wings. I was there once on a EX with tall gearing and a tailwind @ 132 and saw Elvis.

Trying again to post pic

Here are some more photos from the 1968 Can AM at the bridge..Maybe

Bruce McLaren, Sterling Moss (the bald guy in the center) Sweede Savage (A dan Gurney Protoge'sanly killed a short time later)

Sorry I was talking to him and Dan ,and simply didn't take Gurneys Pic,

The world of international racing was a much less formal place, where a shmuck could walk up the the best and talk to them. They actually sat out and invited you to do so.
My camera a 35 mm was mounted on a gunstock with a 120 mm long lens, so taking up close photo was impossible
All these pic were 35 mm Color slides so there is a bunch of work to jest get them into jepe format.
I recently bought a viewer that could record them to a SD card, But I still had to get them out of the carousel from the slide projector view and record them then edit and convert them.
Pheww

Good pics, FOG.
Big names too.

In 2nd pic.... sorry.... but all I could see was that blue 1966 Mustang.
Question is, whatís it doing in the pits with those hub caps still on?

I caught hell for sticking Ď66 caps WITH 3 point spinners on my Ď67....
The Ď67ís hub caps sucked look wise so... yeah well...

Again.... I know the names and recognize a few of them pic wise... and they were of course busy with something else...
But I still want to know whatís up with this Ď66....
Obviously itís not in any race.... just super curious as to why it happened its way in to the pic and maybe you had a story behind the why.

The Mustang? Just some POS owned by a corner worker on his way to his appointed station before the race. Completely irrevlant to the proceedings.
