Better Gen1 Mirrors? Help, please

Sorry if this information is available elsewhere, but most of the info I've been able to find here uses links to the wiki, which is currently unavailable - so please forgive me for the repeat ask.

I've got a Gen1 [1993] and would desperately like better rear view mirrors. What are my options? Obviously would prefer the easiest swap.

Thanks in advance!

You can try the candy drop mirrors from bikemaster, they have a universal base and i have seen them mounted on a 1st gen (will try to find a pic, it's on another pc) What i did was use my stock base/mount, and modded CBR929 mirrors to fit the stock base/mount- had to grind the CBR mirrors thinner at the bottom of the stem so it fits the stock mount. The EX650 mirrors have been used also, as per other threads.

Just bought cbr954/929 mirrors on amazon. Pair for $19. Prime so free shipping... for me anyway. No grinding needed. Two thin washers to fill in the gap between the metal and the GEN 1 plastic base. I like them.

I tried the EX650 mirrors. I liked them... but they were double the money. Had to grind them down to fit the plastic Gen 1 base and that worked fine. Some suggest grinding the base. I did that my first time out but that doesn't leave much plastic material and that weakened base ended up breaking on a driveway tipover. I got another base and needed new mirrors so I opted for the 954/929 mirrors. Just put them on. Bolted right up. Easy. Look pretty good and probably most importantly they give good rearward vision. Hope that helps someone!

I went through several different types of mirrors. I eventually settled on a solution that's somewhat unconventional but really works well. Basically I installed old-school dual sport mirrors as bar end mirrors. They're the sort of mirrors used on KL650s and such, but I mounted them between the bar end weights and the grips. It did take a little "Modding," if using a slightly longer bolt for the bar end weights, some nylon spacers, and a few washers, counts. Unlike other mirrors I have used, these always let me see what's going on behind me, even if I have a big bag strapped on the back. They are much more adjustable than most conventional bar ends. They don't snap off if you let the bike fall over. And they were cheap. I think I paid less then twenty bucks a piece for them. The quality is higher than more fashionable bar end mirrors I have bought at twice to three times the price.

You can get those handlebar clamps and use any 10mm screw-on mirror you want as well.

I use same clamps to hold my video camera. Second one has better clamping with sturdy bolts instead of little screws. And some mirrors (note some pairs are right & left-hand threads).
