I have a 1988 that's not get power when I turn it has a gen 2 junction box on it so I don't know if that's the problem does anyone know if that could cause that
yes they are different, because the wiring is different gen 2's make use of the brown sensing wire, gen 1 don't [well euro models don't] so we can use a gen 2 fuse box on a gen 1 but not a gen 1 fuse box on a gen 2. it may well not be the case in the US not sure I will have a look at the connections on the diagrams later.
I pulled the the wire harness and the neutral safety switch oil pressure switch and kickstand switch wiring was messed up would that cause a no start or power to the cluster
No, interlock switches only deal with ground side of starter-relay, which activates starter-solenoid. You need power going into junction-box in order for starter-relay to send power out to starter-solenoid.
Pull out voltmeter and trace starter power-circuit from start to end. Key ON, measure voltage at these locations:
1. battery's positive terminal, what is this voltage?
2. white wire coming out of starter-solenoid, what is this voltage?
3. white wire going into ignition switch, what is this voltage?
4. red/blue wire leaving ignition switch, what is this voltage?
5. red-blue wire entering junction-box, what is this voltage?
What voltage do you measure at all these locations?
