Hi all, newbie on here looking to buy another GPZ500S here in the UK, having stupidly sold a mint ‘04 on 1500 miles in that luscious deep purple blue a few years back. For those of us not basking in glorious sunshine all year round the stock system has a limited lifespan if you dare to actually ride the bike all year round and from what I can tell the OEM parts are all unobtainable now, so most bikes over here are on aftermarket systems by now.

Predator make full 2 into 2 systems in stainless, or you can just buy the cans or pipes on their own (not cheap!): Kawasaki GPZ500S Exhaust, Kawasaki GPZ500 Exhaust, GPZ500S, GPZ500, GPX500 Exhaust, EX500 Exhaust, EX500, GPX500
Retains all stands and faring parts, 10 year guarantee and the silencers look very similar to the OEM, though whether they perform like stock ones is another matter.

So Why isn't there a generic aftermarket muffler that would last for say 6 years for $35 for a bike such as the EX500? Just a tube with some baffles and a few adaptor linkages and a wrap around clamp?

there is you just have to measure it. then shop around. e-bay is full of them. not sure if the cheap Chinese ones would last long though.

This is cheap but as for lasting 6 years, probably not if used anywhere where it gets at all damp ever:
