Time for a new tire.

Fresh rubber.

First thing I noticed is the BT46 seems more sticky (before being scrubbed in) than the 45's. Sounds good in theory, but I'm not so sure. Does this come at a cost of lower mileage? I would be very disappointed if the 46's are only good for 6000 miles.

Has anyone worn out a rear BT46 and got acceptable miles out of it?

Oh come onnnnnnn. I am still waiting for my BT46 rear about two months later for the EX-500! They were hopeful mid-July, but I emailed last week, and they told me end of August. I have the front on already.

I've got BT45's on my VF500F, and I installed BT46's on my buddy's VF500F. I like 'em quite a bit. I haven't run either through a lifecycle yet, so I can't comment on your question about longevity. I'd actually be pretty happy with 6000 miles though. Actually just remounted my BT45's earlier this week after pressing in some new bearings. Gotta start reassembling the bike frame up sometime soon here..

I got mine licky-de split. 3 days from the time it was ordered until it was delivered. I need it to go 10,000 miles (like a BT45), or it will severely impact my maintenance routine. Not to mention the cost of rubber at 10,000 miles verses 6000 miles .

I've had my BT46s on since May and done 2000miles. I only ride the bike for fun (but hard), I live in Scotland so spend a lot of time on mountain or country twisty roads. I've also done a track day on the tires. I would say they are about 25-30% worn now, without the track day I think they would only be 20-25% worn so ~ 8000-10,000miles should be achievable.

Knowing I replaced both my tires during winter maintenance 2 years ago.
EX is down for the winter. Year end mileage coming in at 114,441.

With my current mileage being 126,712 I know these tires have 12,271 miles on them. Way past the record mileage I've put on other rear tires, and actually getting close to where I replace front tires.
So now seriously considering going ahead and getting a new front tire also. I just have a bad feeling that the BT46 wont compare to these numbers.

Thanks, I have all the confidence I will like the performance. Just don't think I'm going to be satisfied with how long they last.

Firestone must be pretty proud of these babies.

They're stamping BT46 on the tread area of the tire. They never did that with the BT45's. 😄
