Every time I visit this site my computer goes bog slow. (I have a fast computer) and when I leave it won't work at all ,unless I restart it. Something is running in the background since the recent upgrades. It is so severe I hesitate to sign on here

Not experiencing same on my desktop here. I'm not computer tech qualified to provide help, but will move this thread to Technical Support area. Perhaps an admin or a more knowledgeable member can offer some support.
What type of computer?
Which OS? version?
What browser?
Try different browser?
Undo latest updates and rollback?

You may have picked some virus or spyware from some other site. Then an ad or something here triggers it and it starts connecting to mothership. Use Process Monitor to see what process is consuming most of CPU time. Then track it down and get properties on it to verify if it's valid Windows file or stowaway (publisher, publish date, etc.). Can rename it and reboot to see if keeping it from running solves your problem.

I recommend UNIX-based OS for security against patches & updates causing problems. With latest Windows, Microsoft's own updates appear to be causing just as many problems as viruses & malware.

Also use hardware firewall such as Palo Alto Network's firewalls. I place UNIX-based VM out in DMZ. Then remote to it from inside and use it to browse. Only thing transmitted to inside is just screen-display data. I've wiped VM pretty regularly to have fresh OS.

Using VPN as well

don't experience this with any other site I frequent, and not always from here as well.
Using Safari and when I switch to another site from here,Say the Drudge report or Fox news , it can take a minute or so instead go almost instantly .
Tried resetting my router and it is hard wired to the computer . After a re start all is well.
