Firstly i must say I have learned a lot from everyone here jusf by reading. I have a 2005 ex500. This will be my first full season actually riding. This is only the second time asking anything so hopefully in the right area. Sorry if not. I know this has been asked a ton but i don't see any newer posts. Somebody hacked off part of the ends of the exhaust on the stock tips and capped them. The droning has been a bit of an irritant. But im also not trying to spend yoshi money either. I see A LOT of tempting eBay and amazon slip ons that look descent and are great prices. I'm not going for any amazing sound. Just better than the unpacked hacked cut offs I currently have. Anybody ever try them or have any other suggestions that could put me under 200ish for a set? Thank you for any advice in advance.

I literally just threw some Sarachu slip-ons on my bike and I love the sound. As far as finding slip-ons for our bikes, it's pretty much just scouring ebay, facebook marketplace, and craigslist until you find something decent. I personally don't like universal slip-ons so I wouldn't waste my money on them. Better to wait for something better to pop up.

Ive actually seen where you had said you ordered...and installed and then heard/saw the video.... But when i looked for similar they were relatively high price iirc. Maybe I'll just try and repack and then black them out with either exhaust tape or high temp.

Yeah, it'll take a while to find a set specific to this bike under $300. It's mostly banged up Delkevics that go for barely any less than new ones. My slip-ons were ~$135 after shipping, it's just a matter of patience.

I do care about performance a bit too yeah. Unless its miniscule. I did gearing first thing for quicker rather than too and. Getting carb rebuilt soon. But I guess I would say droning gone over slight performance drop.

yeah. I would say your cut down cans are costing performance (usually the case) there are some aftermarket slip on's that work ok tendency is though the cheaper they are the less benefit they are, just keep looking for something decent you can get lucky sometimes.
as a general tip (from someone with 60+years experience) Never modify stock items. take them off and store them, "just in case", buy spare parts and modify them instead, if it's doesn't work out too good then you can put the originals back on with no harm done.

I spent about 500 usd on my full stainless system (2 into 2) a few years ago and very glad I did. My only desire is that they would be more quiet. The system I got bolts up like the stock one but... it is not as the cans I got where the shorter ones and they are more open and performance wise you will never feel the difference in your pants if everything is correct. The thing I love about mine, is the full stainless part and it is never going to rust. I am going to look into making silencers for mine as it came with a thing that might have dropped it a couple decibels.

Just did a quick look up on the Delkevic site and a 2 into 1 399usd and a 2 into 2 584usd before shipping. For a stainless system IMO, those are cheap. Does not sound like this is what you were concerned about but... there it is.

I'm just gonna step in with a question on topic. I'm thinking to buy the 2-2 exhaust from delkevik also. Question is do I have to buy the full exhaust and what is the downside of buying just the stainless slip-on's? except for looks

well do you want the short answer or the full one.
stock headers are designed to accept stock cans. slipons just slip on the stock headers how well they fit depends on you (the fitter) Delkivic and black widow design the after market pipes as a an entire system so do not fully comply with the stock ones, (shape and size) and are designed to fit as a system.
if you buy the whole system you get all the bits (clips. extensions, brackets ect) if you only buy the cans to fit the stock pipes you will also need the connectors and clips. after market shorties will not work without the extra (fill in pieces of front pipe) on stock front headers.

That's not horrible for an entire system. Maybe since i started a new job getting almost twice the loot....ill say screw it and run full system. But really was hoping to stay on the cheaper side only because I do plan on keeping the bike for good because another friend of my late father's is going to paint it and then retire from it altogether. So sentimental value above anything....point being i need something with more power soon now that I've gotten some experience. And yorkie I definitely agree to never toss any parts. I'm a bit of a hoarder. Haha. I like to think its because i always want to be prepared. So far this winter I have picked up.... LED front and rear signals....all LED for cluster....LED headlight....LED tail light.... Rear fender delete.... Aftermarket fiberglass lower fairing....getting all body panels painted...and during the season I had already done sprocketing....put Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2s on...D.I.D. Chain...and brake pads front and rear... And almost every bit of that info to swap to has come from reading all of you wonderful members old posts and comments. So thank everyone that has put any of this information out there.....anyway...back on topic.... Where would be the best place to grab the Delkivic entire system on the low low? and does it literally come with gaskets to entire pipes to clamps?

I would say the place to obtain the cheapest new system is direct from the manufacturer/supplier, if you click the link it shows all the systems available for the EX (GPZ500 Europe) look down the list find one you like click that box, a drop down box appears showing photos of the system, all the parts in the kit you get and a photo of it fitted to a bike.
this is best way to get everything you need.
an alternative is to keep looking just in case someone has bought one never fitted it or didn't like it and sells it on cheaper
but time could be a factor in doing that.
point being i need something with more power soon now that I've gotten some experience.
I read this a lot and it always makes me smile, I call it young mans blood rush, lol. you have a 500 that isn't exactly slow has around 60hp and capable of breaking every speed limit in the country with ease.
yet somehow it's not big enough, fast enough, or powerful enough.
all a bigger bike does is break the speed limits faster when 98% of time you ride within the limits anyway, unless you like paying speeding fines and putting crash videos on moto stars. I just don't get it sorry.

I got my full system on fleabay and it was missing the exhaust clamps to the motor (I had none as the 2 into 1 I removed had them built onto it) and gaskets it came with I did not like as they were not the soft maluable one like OEM so I got new OEM's. The price I paid was actually pretty close to the ones on Delkevic site so IMHO in hindsight, going right to them would be best.

Edit: Wanting more power and needing more power is two different things. I had a lot of powerful bikes they got boring quick. You want a rush with power, you need a track bike as the power end of it will never be satisfied for it is a false thought. I spent a lot of money gotten rid of a lot of nice things thinking I knew and here I am one bike, and happy, an ex500. It is an adrenaline thing not a power thing.

oh so true, same here, I have had bikes that were so powerful they would pull a wheelie if you tried opening the throttle in any gear even top. and even had a couple that were so volatile I got rid of them before they killed me.
no matter how good you think you are having a beast that is above your skill level can only end in disaster.
and believe it or not the EX is a bike most who have owned one either keep it forever or return to one after playing the field, it must be one of the most underrated bikes out there in the 500 class.

Well I can't disagree with anything any of yous have said. Its definitely the reigniting of that old flame of adrenaline that i just dont get anymore. I don't do any of the extreme stuff I used to do. So when im on the bike.....majority of the time I'm full throttle stupidly.

So looking at the delkivic site i keep seeing that the 2 to 1 is catching my eye. Is there any benefit or hindering from doing so? I'll probably still end up going with the 2 to 2 13 inch carbon fiber tube style I'm seeing on there. But definitely curious about the 2 to 1.

hi, in essence there is nothing wrong with the 2 into 1 systems they are cheaper (less pipe and half the cans) I have a Motad on the gen 2 and it works very well. only down side for me is the bike looks more balanced with twin pipes like I have on the gen 1.

2 into 1 since the pipe comes out on the right the center stand looses its landing points. I personally feel like the 2 into 1 sounds more like a dirt bike than a street bike. I am bias though as I really like the 2 into 2.

I can't speak for other systems but the Motad has a landing point fitted to the silencer (as photo) although I would agree the left side does look strange having a landing zone just stuck up in the air on the stand with nowhere to go so to speak. actually I thought about cutting it off the stand altogether.

Oh then 2 to 1 is definitely out. I like the occasional choice and functionality of center stand option. And from what I read on here the 13ish inch area would be a better sound choice then something smaller too right? And thoughts on the carbon fiber with the soon to be black paint? Other random accents will be done in purple and/or green. Possibly getting my buddy to do real carbon fiber odometer trim and possible carbon fiber print tank protector and possible carbon fiber print....uh... where knees go on sides of tank.

BTW since posting the last comment I looked at the Delkevic link their 2 into 1's do indeed have a centre stand landing point it's on the extension piece that goes between the header and can.
