My EZ Pass almost never gets scanned which I used to be annoyed about but I realized the George Washington Bridge would never scan it AND I never got an image toll marked on my EZ pass account...until recently. Last two times I went from NJ to NY they charged my account via the image they took :( I always went through the same toll booth and was never charged. Guess they fixed it :'(

Anyone know of any other tolls from NJ to NYC that doesn't scan and doesn't charge via image for motorcycles? I never take the tunnels since I go to northern Jersey.

Yo! How goes it?!

Yea. My ez-pass hasn't worked at all (in pocket). Though, I've yet to receive an image toll yet. It's only been on the Bear Mtn Bridge and Throgs Neck so far.

I've actually been using my car's tag, but should have a bike tag in shortly. That will go on the inside of the windscreen, but I'm not expecting any improved results.

Ride soon?

Hey! I'm doing alright. Starting to freeze on the motorcycle so I'm probably gonna start getting it ready for Winter. I also need to fix a slight coolant leak that's happening. That'll most likely get fixed next Spring with the help of ducatiman.

I took a ride to Jersey and came home via the Lincoln Tunnel and haven't been charged yet. Fingers crossed that'll be the new route home lol

I live down in the San Francisco Bay Area and regularly go across the Golden Gate Bridge. While this is definitely nothing like where you live, there is a toll going over the bridge, and all others that cross the bay, and all of the toll plazas have cameras, good ones at that. A few years ago, the Golden Gate went fully electronic with bridge tolls, giving folks either the option of getting your equivalent of the EZ pass, or registering your license plate with an online account, both through the same company. Regardless of how fast I am going, the cameras always catch me, no matter the vehicle, and I always get charged. If you try and skip through without a pass or license plate account, you get slapped with a fine and it's mailed to you, without fail, long as your plate isn't blocked or obscured.

The cameras are getting damned good out here, you are very likely seeing the same upgraded cameras. I wouldn't plan on being able to skip out on tolls for much longer, such is the way of the future.
One thing I have heard of from a friend is he had a dealer trim around the license plate (on a car, not a bike), and it covered the bottom edge of the "E", so the camera likely thought it was an "F", and he never got charged. So, it is possible to fool the cameras, you just have to be creative.

If your talking about N.J the whole Garden State Parkway has tolls. I'm right between Central and Southern N.J. and usually take a GSP ride with friends to get to most places. As far as the camera goes, sometimes my hand accidentally covers the plate :p Between the potholes and @$$hole drivers N.J sucks to ride

Don't even have an EZ pass yet I just received a bill for 2 passes of 1 exit of the Mass Pike. even though they have removed the toll booths. Thought the STATE OF MASS DID A NICE THING FOR A WHILE, wrong! they somehow recorded my passing and I now owe them $1.50. wonder how they did it?

So. They're the bridges and tunnels in NY/NJ are going to be "boothless" toll. Toll fares will be mailed out to those without EZ Pass. I have an EZ-Pass, but it is never detected when I do go through the booth, now. Will it be detected with these new boothless tolls? Or will I be mailed the standard fares?

I've been having some good luck at the new boothless tolls at the Midtown Tunnel and the Battery Tunnel. I've been riding through without my ezpass and I haven't had my plates get scanned (1 for 1 on Battery and 2 for 3 at the Midtown tunnel). I've been trying to ride through mid-lane, next to cars in hopes that I'll get by on their scan. Not sure if thats where my success has been coming from or not.

Going over Bear mountain bridge my E-ZPass didn't scan and I had to hand to the guy. You can't just drive thru there because there's the bars that come down.
I had it in a tank bag that I just got.
I passed over the Henry Hudson bridge into Manhattan, there is booth less tolling so we'll see if I get charge via ezpass or in the mail or if I get charged at all.
