Got it for 1600 Canadian pesos, needed a carb clean, which made it happy but after riding for a while at any temp above 20c, the tach would drop to zero and spark would shutoff temporarily (1-10 seconds), tried bypassing kickstand switch but it didn't make a difference, stole sidecover with both pickups and stator from parts bike, didn't help, swapped ic igniter from parts bike (1994 gen 1 with dropped valve), and that seems to have healed it.

It would be just fine riding to work in the morning when it was 8-10c outside and never stutter, but in the afternoon when it was warmer after 5 minutes or so of riding, it would begin its antics.

Flywheel magnets are missing quite a bit of epoxy, so I guess I'm ordering an RMStator flywheelđź«

Valve clearance was good

It's been dropped several times by previous owners, so the plastics are rough, but they are still there!
Windshield removed because it was cracked nearly in half and foggy, have yet to find the right part to order.

Best of luck finding a windscreen. There's no aftermarket companies making them anymore and used ones are rare as hens' teeth these days. Last time I needed one, I got lucky three years ago an checked here on the forum just as another member posted theirs up for sale.

That being said, a taller used aftermarket one is up on ebay as we speek. It's in the UK so shipping might be pricey to Canada but it's the only one right now far as I can tell.

After some brief searching on ebay, if you punch into the search bar "GPZ500 windscreen", there are still a few brand new options available for import. Not cheap and neither is the shipping but hey, you've got to work with what you can find.
I'm seriously contemplating ordering 5 or 6 just in case as backups.

MRA in Germany still makes at least three types: OEM, "Spoiler" and "Touring" - I was fortunate enough to find a used Touring unit on eBay Germany.
As to flywheels, Horse Power Ignition in Belgium, also known as Wieltronic, makes a replacement flywheel with shielded magnets. rotor – Horse Power Ignition – HPI
