So I was going through some old threads as I was looking to raise my bike. Everyone seems to speak highly of the Fogbones so it really peaked my interest. I don’t know much about the geometry of bikes and stuff and so I was wondering if the raising of the bike would alter the riding experience in a negative way. I saw one thread mentioning “head shaking”. And I don’t know what that is. Thanks for any input.

yeah what he said ^^^. I'm probably the wrong person to answer this as both my bikes are in fact lowered not raised to reduce the seat height (short legs) LOL.
however I would assume the alteration done to mine would work in reverse for raising. overall there is little difference except mine turns in on corners slower so it should turn in quicker if raised, also the weight is transferred more to the rear on mine so should transfer the weight towards the front, which would tend to make the rear seem lighter. but this is speculation on my part.
there must be some benefit though as so many do this mod. overall there is little difference from when they were stock but I tend to counter steer and move body weight around a lot while riding.

head shaking is when the bars uncontrollably move one way then the other, a bad case is called a tank slapper usually followed by a high side. providing there is no steering damage everything is straight and the wheels are perfectly aligned (as fog said the string thing) it should not be an issue.

since nobody cares to read my explanation of why you gt head shake, but instead adding anecdotal stories that explain nothing. i'll repost it:
I will elaborate in the main of the String thing to wit:

A Motorcycle gains it's stability from the spinning wheels, which are very heavy gyros just like your toy Gyroscope top, Except many thousand time more powerful.
A gyro has a bunch of physical principals involved when it is spinning. To save typing I limit my explanation to the effect of these.
When a gyro is spinning it wants to stay put that is not turn or tilt This is a very strong force strong enough to hold you 500 lb MC upright.
The back one (rear wheel) is heaver than the front, therefore is has a greater force.

Now to the MC both of these gyros are bolted to the same frame so both must be pointed the same way or they will fight each other for control of the frame.
The stronger one wins in the absence of other forces.

Resonance describes the phenomenon of increased amplitude that occurs when the frequency of an applied periodic force is equal or close to a natural frequency of the system on which it acts.

When an oscillating force is applied at a resonant frequency of a dynamic system, the system will oscillate at a higher amplitude than when the same force is applied at other, non-resonant frequencies.

IOW
If any part of the oscillations of the pavement or the engine coincide with the frequency of the oscillations of the motorcycle's fork springs (may be caused by the misalignment of wheels), the oscillations in the steering will be amplified. So changing the speed of the engine (or the bike on the pavement) reduces or eliminates resonance. POWER THROUGH THE WOBBLE!!!

... or
Every spring has a resonant frequency. If the springs have a sympathetic frequency... you got wobble. This was what buddy with the harley found out.
OK, so calm the flames and align the wheels. Then, spindly forks and frames are just springs. You load them with forces and sooner or later, they'll unload - especially when they are making two different tracks going straight ahead. Worn, underpressure or mismatched front tires, bias/radial mixes, loose cheap steering bearings add to it.

These bikes have a cruiser-like fork rake. You can raise them, and all things being equal, it will turn better.
