what general maintanence and safety tuneups should be done on a bike thats been sitting for 6-7 months outside in the elements? It was running fine when i parked it, 4 months ago i ran it but it was idling really rough-ly (?), sputtered out and now wont start...

Its an '01 with approx 10,000 miles.

I think the Carbs definately need to be cleaned, fresh gas, brakes?, valves adjusted?... but i want to make a list of stuff I can do (remove carbs, get them cleaned, fresh gas, charge battery.. etc) to get it running again and then RIDE it to a shop to get general "ITSBEENSITTINGOUTSIDEFOR6MONTHS" maintanence/safety tuneup.

Add to all the above an Oil Change. You might pull the plugs and clean the insides of the plug caps,

Always good to give all the screws & nuts a once-over for tightness.
Check all the lights, air pressure, & see if the registration & proof of insurance are still current & onboard.
