Is this a horrible idea? (welding starter sprocket back together)

With my bike being out and the weather being incredible this week ive been going insane. Replacement sprockets aren't shipping or the prices are insane. We've gotten it welded back together for $20 and it should work just fine since its just for the starter (theoretically) but I thought id get a few opinions before finishing the job.

yeah it will work (y)(y)although you might want to grind the edge of the weld so it doesn't foul the spacer between the sprocket and the case.
