Hello,
The license plate light on my 1990 ex500 has been missing since
I bought it. Now I want to start riding at night but I am afaid
I'll get pulled over. A friend of mine told me I will have to buy the whole
wiring plus bracket just to replace a bulb, is that about right?

Thanks

Assuming you can find the actual bulb (it looks to be standard side), that's absolutely not correct. There's just a few screws to remove the plastic covers, and you have access to the bulb.

Does any one know where I can get the bulb, or what size it is?
It is completely missing on my bike, even the plastic cover...

Thanks

I like these, they're not technically DOT, but if you put one on each upper corner no cop will look twice, unless they're a bike nut and wonder where you got your trick bits. They come in black and silver, LED or incandescent.

two screws and pop the plastic cover then twist and pull the bulb... go to auto parts store... spend $1.49 and buy a new bulb. or order online from china a LED for $0.01

The cops headlights will light up the plate when they are behind you, so technically you would not need one. At least that's what I said the last time I pulled over for a burnt out licence plate bulb. It must have worked because he gave me a warning and told me to fix it. Don't tell anyone but that was almost a year ago and I still haven't changed the bulb out. I know, I know, I'm a rebel..... It's not that I am cheap, just that I always forget when I go over to Autozone, Napa, Walmart.......
