Google hasn't been very helpful to me in my search for information on the zzr500. Most everything I've found is in a language I don't speak (English & Spanish is all I currently have under my belt). Of the few pictures I've found, I think it is a very nice looking ride. Can anyone tell me if it's basically the same as the ex500? and if so, what are the odds I can get my hands on the plastics?

Frame looks different, but what are the possiblities of conversion? (I like the flush signals, full fairing, and sportier look. If you happen to know how much it would cost for the whole bike that'd be helpfull as well. I'm not against the possibility of importing one (if I can get parts for future problems).

If it is like the ZX400, it is a 4 Cyl, 500CC motor (the ZX400 is a 4 Cyl, 400CC motor). It would be based on a different fram, which would indicate that it would be difficult to "modify" our 500R's. However, if it is possible to use the same fariing!!! I am all over that!

I googled "ZZ-R 500 Kawasaki" and the 3-5th result showed a bike w/ the same look, fairing holes, engine/tranny details...

But it's a ZZ-R 600. Here's one on eBay: Item # 300051577850

Two other sites that had the 600 were in German... so. ???

Here's a 1996 ZZR 500 for sale...

Here's a service manual for sale that says it's for both the 500 & 600 models.

Same here, that fairing looks awesome. I did an EBAY search as soon as I saw that, and all they're selling is service manuals. I was disappointed.

SciTrek: I actually found the 500... Wasn't really interested in it for the mods. If possible I'd like to find one as close to stock as possible. (and I have no idea what "RM 16000" translates to in USD. Hadn't really considered the 600, the 500 is quite a bit lighter... but that might be an option if I were to go with a second bike. For the moment I'd like to restrain myself to one though :)

I just think she's so dang sexy.. I ran across it today, and just couldn't help trying to figure out more. Ebay was my first impulse after google failed me. If possible I'd like to get my hands on one. Any Euro's out there with some input?

that frame looks like it may give you trouble.

on the topic of flush signals, i dunno how i feel about those, they look a bit bulky, like a katanas, cant stand the look fo that bike, buldging out in random places, like a fat girl with a shirt thats two sizes too small, bah.

I do however dig flat flush signals like those on 636's

The 500 size ZZR is probably a for Japan only Model. They keep the really nice stuff home. Really it's because of their licencing requirements.

Well.. it's definately limited; but I think it must be available in Japan and Europe (and how much of Europe I'm not sure). The only 'net listings I can find on it are a very few UK, quite a few German, some czech, and few more I have no idea where. I suppose I'll give up the dream, as it really doesn't look like I'd be able to convert the plastic to fit the EX without a lot of modification, and my current budget won't support a second bike.

I may see about (eventually) importing one though, 'cuz she's one sexy beast in Kawi green.

I found a larger photo and ran the text through a translator, then tried a little transliteration (parentheses indicate gross transliterations!):

"One of the most successful categories on the motorcycle world market
was for Kawasaki always the class of the fast middleweight. This
tradition goes up to the rapid gpz models of the 80's.

The zzr500 continues this tradition in almost sensational manner. So
much motorcycle ever in this class.

The water-cooled four-cylinder dohc engine (doesn't follow the design of more expensive, less powerful motors); this came by a new concept in (intake and exhaust gas handling)-carried out (by 26mm intake and 22mm exhaust valves). The compression amounts to 11.5:1, and the mixture preparation is made by four semi flat slide carburetors."

I cannot find any forum topics for this bike anywhere, very unusual. Almost everything ridden or driven has a few topics in a forum somewhere...
