So, I've seen this on other motorcycle message boards, and thought it would be fun here too - anybody want to have a "2007 Mileage Competition" to see who pulls off the most riding this year?

If anybody is interested, sign up here with your current mileage, perhaps a photo of your speedo if you can.

And I suppose we can allow non-EX500's, since I know a few of you don't ride one anymore. (read: Knightslugger!)

Given that most of you American members have an extra few months on us Canadians, I'll have to work extra hard to keep up! ;D

We'll be doing MILEage they'll be doing KILOMETERage.

We'll have to travel about 50% farther to beat them!

Don't worry SciTrek, we'll convert! Besides, our riding season is typically April to Nov. Although I'm already making plans to bring my bike back out in a week or two given that we've received practically no snow.

I was thinking we could start the competition on say, Jan. 15...even if only a few are interested in signing up, it should be fun.

The prize - bragging rights I guess...unless somebody wants to sponsor a t-shirt or something. I would, but getting married has left me...broke. I'll be lucky to afford all the gas to keep my bike going

This sounds like a neat idea, even though I doubt I'd be in contention. One of the things I thought of was to see who could spend the most money in 2007. If anybody is interested in that kind of competition I'd like to throw my hat in the ring. We need to shape this forum up so its more like the rest of the forums on the internet, not enough chest beating...

The friendly competition is a great idea! I'll enter even if my first ride won't be for a couple of months. I wonder how many partcipants wiill be posting the same mileage number till spring? :-X

Heck, if the weather here in WV keeps going as it has been for the last couple of months, I may break down and "dewinterize" [technical term] my bike. Honestly, its been in the 60s and 70s until today. Go global warming!

hmm, heres what I was thinking.
Not to get all technical on something that is totally for fun, but I don't think theres much of a chance for anyone who doesn't ride year round. so maybe since there seems to be plenty of people, there could be two different classes, year round and seasonal. I'll let someone else come up with some kind of quadratic formula to calculate the proper ratio's for comparison .

How about a simple miles/day averaged over a 90-120 day period?
And maybe a 30 day category?

Might not be a good idea to have most single-day mileage because it might tempt someone to drive tired and over caffeinated.

Bought my 2007 500R from the dealer w/1 mile on it in September...

I now have 9400 miles on her... so however you want to dice it up - monthly, quarterly, seasonly, annually.... I am so in!

Well, how about this - since we all have country sections, there could be a monthly competition for each area.

But, for the entire board, lets do a yearly competition. I don't get to ride year round, but I'm confident once the warm weather arrives, I'll be a contenda!
