Post info/sites for Hi-tech or high-strength security for your bike.

The fellow who co-rents an apartment w/ my son in San Diego almost had his motorcycle stolen a few days back. 3rd time in a year.

He updated his security system to a Scorpio
http://www.scorpioalarms.com/products/motorcycle/sr-i500_trs6/

It includes adjustable proximity and touch (capacitance change) alarms that are audible, or silent alrm to the key fob, or both. If someone knocks him off the bike & attempts to ride off... the engine runs for 5 seconds or so then dies. The rider carries the key fob inside the jacket. if the bike & fob distance exceeds a certain distance (weakens the signal strength) it cuts the ignition.

I was debating putitng an alarm on my 2007 500R but the dealership suggested against it because it tends to drain the battery and often leads to ignition problems in the long run.

Well if you don't have an alarm or secure parking - you certainly wont have an ignition problem. No bike, ..no problem.
Seriously, modern alarms have very little drain.
Now there's a dealer that's rare. Trying to talk you out of an option.
