Boys and Girls...

My 07 Ex is completely totalled. I was hit tonight coming home from work. I was at an intersection making a left hand turn on a green arrow. A car in the opposite direction ran a red and plowed into me...

I walked away with only minor scrapes and bruises, dispite being dragged 15+ feet under the SUV that hit me (thank you Scorpion Helmets, and Joe Rocket Jackets)!!!

Unfortunately, I can't say that my bike came away so clean... as a matter of fact, it is completely destroyed. The front end is toast, tank busted open, front end is bent like a pretzel, handle bars are busted off... I don't see how the insurance companies could possibly fix her... I guess I will be in the market for a new bike very soon...

I will take pictures in the morning and post them tomorrow. I guess, I won't be entering the milage contest at this time...

... Yes, that could have been way worse... its great to hear your ok! despite all the bad stuff ie. busted bike brusies and soreness... I find it pretty cool to see how well your gear holds up and for me made me want to get better/more gear. Good luck on your new bike.

Cripes. Certainly serves as a heads-up to all of us... on two wheels or 4...
watch out for the inattentive SOBs & wear your protective gear.

And hey, you're winning the "getting dragged" footage competition so far.

I'm really sorry to hear that! Although I'm usually against suing people, I think this is perfect case for it.

Great to hear that you are doing OK (all things considered). As for a new bike, I'd suggest looking into a Ninja 650R if you're looking for a little step up.

Wow, what a great community we have here...

I took pictures and video today (I will post both of them tonight). The bike is in such bad shape, the front fork is split and bent, the frame is bent, the tank has a hole in it, the entire front end no longer resembles a motorcycle. Although I was dragged about 15-20ft, I was luck becuase she basically slammed into my bike from the tank forward. If she had hit me just a foot further toward the back of the bike, she would have slammed into my leg/chest (she was driving an SUV). I LOVE MY EQUIPEMENT.

Look for the pics/vid sometime tonight...

As for sueing someone... I have NEVER been in a legal situation, and honestly have no idea what I should be doing. I don't want to get hooked up with some lawyer who will win a case and take everything from me in fees... however, I am still in considerable amount of pain and soreness. In addition I have a "spot" in my field of vision that no longer has any image (cut out about a 2" round piece of cardboard and hold it about arms length in front of your right eye... that is what i am seeing right now). So I am just trying to take care of myself, then I will have to figure out what to do for the "damages". Unfortunately, I had my bike financed and I am assuming that they will total the bike... so they will just payoff the loan. I doubt I will get more than that for the bike. The only way to get anything out of it it through "pain and suffering" and I have no idea what that is worth in a suite...

Any advice? Anyone in a similar situation? Anyone I can contact? I tried 800 Motorcycle... they said because I wasn't "out of work" they really didn't want to assist me... sounds like they want the million dollar law suites...

Anyway...

As for the new bike. I had intended to keep the EX for 1 year (my first bike) and then upgrade... So I figured it was a good time to upgrade! I think i have narrowed down my selection to a Kaw 650R, Yam fz6, or an sv650s. I really like the full fariing on the 650r, but the fz6 and sv650 have some really nice after market fairing completion kits that make them look even better... I don't know... i covet your input.

Alright, so I have no experience with getting a lawyer, but if you're suffering vision loss, obviously you need to find out what's causing it, and if it's permanent. I'm not a huge fan of needless suits either, but if this SUV plows through a red light, takes you out, screws up your vision, hurts you and totals your motorcycle, I think a pain and suffering suit is in order.

But, ultimately that's your choice :)

If i were to trade my 600RR for a twin standard, it'd have to be for the SV1000S
Whats the weight on that  thing ??? Anyone know ?
410 Lbs dry, so add about 30 lbs.  even then it's still lighter than the RC51 @ 439 Lbs dry...

man... it still makes me snort that the 07 CBR600RR is almost 100 Lbs LIGHTER than the RC51... god that thing must go like snot!
