Where do you guys buy your oil filters from (in Canada) and which ones do you use. Trying to find purolator PL14610 but thought I'd check and see what other people use.

I have yet to find one other than Fram....I think Parts Source sells Purolator but I havne't had a chance to go in. I used Fram all last season, but I'm going to stay away from them now and go with a more reputable filter.

I'd also like to hear an answer to that question!

Newfieninja put me onto Napa oil filters. Product number 1356 fits our bikes. Better-built than Fram for sure. (metal end caps) Nicely priced around $10.00. Available in their parts stores.

Napa eh? That's convenient, given there's one about 30 feet down the street from my office :)

That brings up 2 questions :
How long is the original filter ?
Would the longer one still fit under the lower cowling ?

Looks like I'm going to get my next filter at Walmart :D

I was just looking at that oil filter cross reference chart, are you sure about 1356? I only see a 1365 for napa.

Yes I am sure about 1356. Look at the chart above this post which Frog posted. It fits a '92-94' Mazda V6 Mystere and anything that fits that fits our bikes. I'm on my 3rd 1356. It works!

You mention in your list the FRAM PH6017A oil filter not being recommended. Any particular reason? Or if it has been posted about these filters just point me to it. I have been using the PH6010A for over 10 years now. ???

It's because of the paper medium IIRC .

local walmart only caries FRAM. I'll look into NAPA and PartsSource this week as I'm due for an oil change.

FRAM is not recommended because the paper filter element supposedly disintegrates and can cause damage

I should have clarified, I was dissapointed that I couldn't find Wal-Marts brand of filters, my local store only had FRAM splattered all down the isle, I'll check out a few more wal marts i guess.

Wal-Mart does sell a lot of Fram products . One of the Fram Filters on the list was rated as OK . I guess it doesn't have a paper medium ???
