How do you go about doing this, i have a 95 ex with mag wheels, is it possible to accomplish this with an assload of mag polish and elbow grease, or is this a job for professionals....?

At one point in time on EX500Riders, someone posted a how to using chemical stripper on the rims and then polishing them up. i honestly dont know if they are mags or not, im guessing alumminum, i dont really know,

i guaranty that they are aluminum.

strip the paint off first, then start using a polish and some elbow grease...

Give me another week and ill have my Jamods section on here, under the mods ...it has a detailed walkthrough with pics on how to "chrome" your rims or to even color them after youve stripped the black/silver paint of the stock rims.

Tape it off with some good tape. The paint stripper will eat through just about anything, so be careful when you're using it.

I just put tape on the tire and painted the stripper on the rim. Let it set for a while then wipe it off, use 00 steel wool to finish stripping the paint and to polish it. It takes a real nice shine just with the steel wool.

no not quite, i have decided not to do the whole polishing of the lip job right now, because the paint on the rest of the rim doesnt look so hot, so maybe one of these days i will get them powder coated, anybody got any idea how much that costs?

here's my local shop. they have done alot of race car items for me. the price is fair and the work is superb. give them a call. they do many cycle parts so they should know.
