Do you think this is a bad place to put a fuel filter. Its hard to find room above the carbureators for a decent filter. I made a bracket, and its hanging from the screw. Its not moving, and doesnt touch anything. Cylinders shouldnt get that warm.
Fuel is never going to reach your carbs. Fuel to the carbs is a gravity feed system, and fuel is not going to climb from the filter up to the carbs....
almost agreed, positions like that only work on pumped system, however fuel will enter the carbs eventually as the tank is higher than the carbs. but the flow rate on a less than half a tank "another story".
I came upon an inline nylon (very fine) mesh filter which plugs into the carb inlet rail fitting. It costs all of $2.94 (currently) $5.93 from revzilla.com is part # 49019-1085 . Using this DOES offer an alternative to an inline filter, performs identical function, its OEM, tiny, cheap...
i use one of the rail filters mentioned above, but I’m also suspicious of junk in my tank from a PO, so I added this little inline one also. I did have a bit of trouble finding the right spot to install it, as closer to the tank was causing pinch points in the line and starving the carbs. This spot is perfect, if you’re intent on a double filter system. But the single rail filter is probably good enough!!
my Ducati tank showed evidence of rust. As POR-15 is a helluva lot cheaper than a 900SS tank (IF i could find one) I decided to give this stuff a whirl. product shot , and INSIDE of tank ...after and before. POR-15= good stuff. A 96 hour cure time.....countdown is on.
