No idea about the corner speed but it's fast for sure, they go faster on ice than on a dirt track (studded tires help a lot)

these were taken in Shawinigan, but there are a couple of events a year throughout eastern Canada

Re: Motorcycle on the ice ?

They run full body protection and there are round metal bars around the wheels to avoid getting stucked/teared appart.

I'm not sure if this is really efficient, but I know my own limits and I am kind of unwilling to go out and try this.. ;)

We're goofy us Canadians, EH?

We race motorcycles on ice and snowmobiles on ...jeez...pretty well anything!
including drag racing across ponds and doing laps on lakes

I guess there's a motorsport for every gearhead kind ;D

its totally unrelated but it's the first thing I thought of when I read the title. except it doesn't involve a motor.

Me and my friends would go to the park and two people would be on opposite ends of the merry-go-round. we'd spin them as fast as possible and then bring them to a dead stop as fast as possible. As soon as it stopped both were supposed to take off running in opposite directions and we would measure who got the furthest. It usually didn't really matter because everybody would either faceplant or swerve into a tree. rain puddles would add an interesting element to the challenge. If you don't mind killing a few brain cells or running directly into something it's alot of fun. I suggest crouching low so you keep your balance better when running.

:( It has been turned in sort of a motorsport by some kids.. defenately the best type

2 sat in the middle of a merry-go-round and they powered it with the back wheel of a scooter.

But they didn't stop early enough and the 2 kids fly out.

I heard that they ended up ok, but the clip is unsettling.

If it was colder this winter i was seriously considering getting studded tires for my KX250 & hittin up the lakes w/ my buddies.... but we didn't get much cold till this past week... and at 300 bucks & up for a set of studded tires, it wasn't worth it for me this year.

High wire motorcycling - Current world record
1. Karl Traber, the well-known German high-wire artist, set the fastest speed record for riding a motorcycle across a 300 metre long wire on 31 May 2003 in Beeskow, Germany. Riding his KTM GS 250 motorcycle along the wire (from 4.50 metres, up to 31 metres above street level), Traber reached a maximum speed of 97 km/h.
