Why not use an online photo archive like Flickr? They automaticly make them smaller.

A couple of options:

1.) Knightslugger's suggestion is a good one

2.) If you let me know how large of a file size you've been trying to upload, I can increase the allowable size if it's reasonable

3.) On other sites, I offer photo album/management using a system called Gallery2. I'm currently looking into the possibility of integrating this with the forum software here, so that users could upload, manage, and insert their own photos in themselves.

Let me know if you want help on 2, and I'll keep you posted on the progress of #3.

I believe Fog uses dialup so he needs to make it smaller on his computer so it doesnt take him ages to upload.

what operating system are you using FOG ? windows XP ?

No I use A DSL service, not the fastest one but the only one down here.
I just want to make the pictures smaller to fit into the max limits here.

If you use Flickr's upload program, it automaticly resizes them to web friendly sizes.

i highly highly suggest using flickr and copy/paste the image location to your post, rather than attaching photos to the post.

I went there and I got another Yahoo thingy. I'm sick of registering my name and password to every tom dick and Yahoo. Why the heck can't I just attach a photo to a post . everybody else dose it.

I created a gallery 2 thingy and got some pictures it it. But they might as well be on the moon I can't figure out what to do with them.

This whole computer thing sucks .

If you use WIndows XP, I just found on-line directions so you can email smaller images.
Maybe you could just email shrunken pics to yourself. Save them in a new file (A-pics) and then put them on your profile... "upload my own picture" then "browse" go to A-pics & select the picture. ???

Here you go then. You'll have to download it though. no biggie. I tried Google Video and YouTube but both sized the video down to a hardly veiwable size. this at least retains the quality i needed.

One download at a time, so if you get a "File in use" error someone else is downloading it. you'll have to wait until that person is finished.

You can also use this site http://resizr.lord-lance.com/ to resize an image and than save it to your computer for uploading to your gallery. It is convenient if you are using a computer without any image editing software on it but, the downside is it takes along time for large images.

Ok that one is reasonable and it worked, and I didn't even have to tell them my shorts size. But when I shrink a picture and add it as an attachment to a post I still get only a link to that file. How do folks get the pictures to come out in their post, visable right there in front of you so you don't have to play computergoblygook. God I hate this **** thing.

What format are the pictures you're attaching in? My image attachments are always displayed, I post .jpg's or .gifs.

When people are posting images inline, they're using the img tag to link to an image hosted elsewhere. For example...

1.) I went to your Gallery image album, found a picture to post and right-clicked it. I then clicked the 'Copy Shortcut' menu item. If you're not using Internet Explorer, it may be labeled 'Copy Image Location' or something to that effect.

2.) Now that the location of the image I want to post is copied to my clipboard, I can insert it using the IMG tag:

That's it! By linking to an external image, you can post pics of any size, anywhere in your post.

Went there, all I saw was the home page for a file sharing ... Club? no Video, Just a lot of advertising BS. Even clicked on the Blondie chic. But I don't need any more romance in my life. Computers/computing still sucks.
