In an effort to do as much of my own maintenance as possible, and after getting the run-around from local shops...I'm planning to mount and balance my new front tire myself. This process is likely to happen once every couple years as there are no tracks near me, limiting me to touring country roads at less than thrilling speeds. For this reason, I plan to get an entry level kit off eBay for $70.

The question: For weights, can I use simple stick on lead weights after thoroughly cleaning the area or do I need something special that clamps to the rim like I see on my car? I believe I've read here that the stick-ons are either OK or actually preferred.

Thanks,

E

Yeah just use some brake clean on the wheel and stick on the weight simple as that.

you can use both or either, except the clip on type fasten to the raise rib in the center of the wheel , not on the rim.
