ok. just bought the bike. It has what i've discovered to be a Cobra F1 exhaust. only thing i've found is that it does not require re-jetting, and is aluminum (duh).

how does this exhaust fair when compared to other types (muzzy, etc). I personally don't like the tone much. I like the fact that some other exhausts come with their own manifolds. I'm going to be switching to a 2 into 1 . this should yield better midrange, and a better tone, but also will require jetting the carbs.

You may want to go to homepage then do some searches for info on jetting carbs, & muffler swaps.

Essentially, change mufflers for a different sound or appearance: they don't give the 500 any power boost over 1 hp.

Read on the rejetting procedure first, then decide if it's worth it to you.

General consensus is no exhaust requires a rejet on this bike. You can do it, but you can ride it all day long with just a pilot adjustment, too.

If you get a minute you might check this thread:

and you might be able to answer some of his questions and possibly find a buyer for your cans if you go to a 2-1 pipe.
