Any trick to this?? Can't get the two plates to seperate and don't want to force them off and end up breaking something.

You just need to jam a really small screw driver in between the 2 plates to break the gasket and pry it apart, after you get it apart dont forget the impellor is reverse threaded.

Try tapping a knife blade into the gasket between the cover and the seal plate. Then a screw driver. the cover is held by 2 hollow dowels as well as the sticky gasket.

I don't know if you are aware of it but, you don't need to disturb the head or the crankshaft to change the transmission.
