I went to my local motorcycle shop and asked for them to put tires on my bike in the stock size. They put a 110/80/17 on the front in Maxxis - which is a bias ply. I asked them twice if it was stock, so I didn't check the size until I got home, because I trusted them. Oops.

How will this affect the bike? Should I ask them to take this tire off and put another on? I haven't put the wheel on the bike yet.

This bike will be used for some sport riding - possibly even a track day.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the replies. I took it back, and the shop was really nice. ;) I thought they would be, but I was afraid they would try to convince me that 80 was okay, and I wouldn't have an argument why not. Thanks Knightslugger for telling me the speedo would read fast. Actually the shop just gave the guy who sold me the tires a hard time, and said they would take care of it. They even gave me $2 back because the 70 was cheaper. ;D
Thanks guys.

Hey Kightslugger, your at it again. Yes the speedo will be off, but it will read slow not fast. the 80 aspect ratio tire being taller than the 70 will have a larger rolling diameter therefore will turn at a slower rate for any given road speed.

Oh feck. The stock size for the 17" is a 70 series, the stock size for the 16" is a 90 series... I'm sorry MaximX... 10:30 at night... tired... not thinking... blah blah blah...
