Hey everybody,

first off, I'd just like to say thanks for all the input on getting a different bike. I'm glad I posted because if I hadn't I probably would have ended up buying a katana instead of waiting for this CBR to come along, which is both in better shape and cheaper to a tune of $400.

I'm going to be picking it up on Sunday I think, I drove over to Baraboo (an hour or so away) to check it out this last weekend and there was no question, I wanted it.
It's a 94 F2 with an aftermarket front fairing and a new two brothers pipe on it. It's got a dented gas tank, a broken throttle cable, and the speedo doesn't work. I'm getting it for $1500. how's that for a steal! I didn't take a camera with me, but I'll post a picture on sunday if I have time.
Unfortunately because my dad is the owner of the heated garage that stores all of my toys ( 4 wheeler, dirt bike, and 2 motorcycles) he claims that there is no more room and that something has to go. So this week I'm trying to push the 500 off on everybody that I know that rides and might be interested. I'm trying to sell it for $1400. its a 95 with 12,000 miles on it, painted windscreen, clear turn signal lenses, LED tail light and I just put in new spark plugs and adjusted the valves. does that seem like a fair price?

any good places for CBR info or parts?

thanks,

Luke

KS, I'll have to ask about the jet kit when I pick it up. would you recommend sticking with that or going back to a stock setup. Power isn't a huge concern for me because I'm guessing that this bike is going to have more power than I should be trusted with.
SSS, I'm guessing your kidding but it got me wondering. I haven't really heard much about Two Brothers and so I was wondering if there was anything to your statement about the quality of can. the guy told me it cost around $400, and thats all I really know about it.
thanks for the links.

2Bro cans are great. loud as fugk, but really no worse than any other brand really... If it does have a jet kit, i'd keep it in there. The bike comes from Honda pretty leaned out and the pipe will only make it worse. As for power, it's not going to scare you. It's not as jumpy/twitchy as the RRs are! If i were to guess on power, probably no better than today's EFI 650cc twins are. It's pretty timid. Big for it's time, not so much now a days.

Not only a little more timid, but a little heavier. Excellent all around bike, IMO.

The newer ones might be better quality but the old can style ones would start to fall appart after a few seasons. Does yours have any corrosion? How old is it?

The TBR's are generally the cheapest can and the quality matches the price.

Our f4 was a '99 and the exhaust was on there when we got it, so I assume it's '99 or newer. I've noticed no problems with the quality of it, although it could use a good polish as it sits now. Luke said his f2 has a new pipe on it, so I'd hope it's at least as new as ours ;).

Although there's a '00 GSXR here for less than 3K, is that good?
If it's in good shape with minimal blemishes I'd say it's a decent deal - if you want a gixxer. I had a chance to pick up a '98 750 for about $2800 but shied away because it had runs in the paint and I couldn't help but wonder how hard it'd hit the ground to need a full paint job. Looking back I wish I'd have bought it. The older gixxers weren't as comfy as the hondas (in my opinion), though, so it's all about personal preference.
