Bought my 07 500r about a month and a half ago. The bike is randomly stalling out while riding at various speeds and gears. It will stop accelerating when I give it throttle, slow down and stop, and takes a few minutes at the least to get going again. Has happened from a stop as well as slow to moderate speeds.
It doesn't seem to be an electrical issue as my lights all stay on. Just replaced the battery, rectifier tested fine. I've removed the two rubber orange discs inside tank cap. Rebuilt the carb this weekend and it started right up beautifully the first time but issue happened again a few hours later.
Next am going to check on if the kickstand sensor is bad. Any ideas and advice welcome
couple of ideas.
faulty petcock allowing the bowls to run dry.
vent tube on carbs blocked.
kickstand switch faulty.
bad contact on the ignition circuit somewhere.
route fuel hose into seperate container....pull vac hose from LH carb...leave connected to petcock, provide vacuum to it . Fuel should then flow until vacuum is ceased.
Had this loads of times. Seems to be a vac or air lock. I open the petrol cap, leave for a minute or two, then fire her up, with the cap stil open. Always works. Float bowls must be full, because she always starts, so I'm betting on vac in the tank. The tank breather pipe "could" be an issie, I don't know. Seems to happen more under full load, but I use mine mostly for commuting and leisure these days. Don't forget to lock the petrol cap down again
