I have an 87 ex-500 that I have been fixing up and one of the problems I always had was the exhaust was ridiculously too loud. I ordered a stock exhaust from ebay and finally fit that on on the weekend. I noticed the sound was way better and I am so happy with it, but after a few seconds I noticed the smoke coming out of it. Any ideas whats going on here?

The exhaust looked perfectly fine before I took off the muzzy and put the stock on so I can't imagine that I have something wrong with the engine. The only thing that comes to my mind is maybe I forgot a packing peanut in the pipe and its getting melted inside there..

Youtube clip.. this isn't me, but a friend of mine where I have been using his garage to tinker on the bike

The other strange thing is it doesnt happen right away, but about 20seconds into it, as well as it seems like it is getting less smokey over time. The very first time was very very smokey, now I can only notice it when I stay in one spot for a few moments.

I'm sort of thinking that maybe the PO could have blown his engine or had the oil prob . and you are just burning that off . i wouldn't worry about it.
