In an ongoing effort to voluntarily streamline the carb section, I will heretofore post ALL my carb fun /work /crap /pictures /challenges /drama /etc within this thread. I will not include Custom Carb Service VENDOR business chatter, which I will continue to keep separate thus adhering to forum rules.
Apologies for the past clutter, this should put the carb section on a radical diet.
I will commence with these Ducati BDST38 Mikuni carbs, my property, and sorely in need of refurb.
just venting here.....jeez, if the bowl gaskets are old, crushed thin please REPLACE them. DO NOT use RTV on them! What a PIA to remove that crap.
Ok, vent all done.
Nothing more satisfying than taking a set of crusty old carbs and recreating them to your superb standard, well done, actually enjoy seeing the pics, lovely.
now mostly disassembled (choke assemblies still in place, soaking in WD40). Dirty beyond belief....after soaking, the emulsion tubes still needed pounding out using a correct size punch and hammer! Thankfully the owner opted for Factory Pro titanium replacements. Pilot and main jets still in place in the "jet block", soaking.
These from a early 90's 900SL (Superlight)....left in place, unrun, filled with fuel for 13 years! See pic to correlate my proof. Anxious to see results after doing some overtime on these......easily the nastiest Duc carbs I've ever encountered.
