In an ongoing effort to voluntarily streamline the carb section, I will heretofore post ALL my carb fun /work /crap /pictures /challenges /drama /etc within this thread. I will not include Custom Carb Service VENDOR business chatter, which I will continue to keep separate thus adhering to forum rules.

Apologies for the past clutter, this should put the carb section on a radical diet.

I will commence with these Ducati BDST38 Mikuni carbs, my property, and sorely in need of refurb.

problems include....a broken wide open "shut down valve" missing its outer cover allowing a massive, direct, constant stream of atmosphere being sucked into this particular carb. A 2nd identical unit on another carb is present and working fine. Upon receiving the carbset in the mail, I casually lifted and let go of all 4 slides....2 of which firmly stuck in the upward position! Caused by massive amounts of grit inside.
Jets have been fully cleaned. I'm getting there but need carb kits ordered for the oring/gaskets and float valve contents. Not even considering using any brass tuning componentry also supplied in the kits, however. Not needed, actually.

the CBR set awaiting parts so I allowed a 250 set to jump the line. A 500 set is next up.

These CBR600 carbs have been truly bastardized. Figured out the pilot screws (though they fit) were not original sized. I mentioned to the owner that the screws provided seeming super long......he related he had a bag of leftovers from experimenting, sent them to me and lo and behold....the shorter screws were present. Currently in my ultrasonic, will be used and set to factory 1.5 turns out.
Still awaiting a RonAyers delivery of the new shut off valve to complete them, but, thankfully, at least another screw-up has been defeated in the meantime.

Now completed, these CBR600 carbs are packed up, ready to go home. Grit cleaned from slides (perfect matched slide action the result). The broken (leaking) cut off valve installed (thus the RH bank is now perfectly matching the LH bank). Bodies cleaned both internally and externally. Pilot screws now replaced with the correct originals. Bench synched, idle retained..... from this

got running today:
a neighbors Craftsman snow blower being sold at a yard sale this week, prompting the "wake up" call
2 differing brands of 4 stroke line trimmers, replaced float valve in 1, a model using a Walbro carb, the other requiring air filter clean up and leak repair.

And....split/disassembled a set of 500 carbs.... still in process on that.
