North Shore of Long Island, that is. Did this today.....from Suffolk County into Nassau County, using all winding, non-direct back roads north of Route 25A wherever possible.

Ended up at a beach in Bayville's west end. Pics....skyscraper type buildings (Queens County) just barely visible in distance (LH side of 1st photo) and Connecticut across LI sound looks closeby.

Windy and brisk, cool ride of approx 120 miles on the SS800 which done fine.

Yessir, did 120-130 mile yesterday as well. Taking advantage of weather while testing, challenging and furthering my "after" abilities. A form of physical (motorcycle) therapy?

Thanks. Assuring myself I'm still capable by *doing*, with no physical impediments leftover. Returning to riding was my primary goal the whole time while sidelined.

Feeling better, more physically self assured and confident with each solo "test" ride. Also cognizant I'm a *very fortunate* individual.

Gotta get "the kids" out for a weekend ride soon.

Spring weather here has been mostly miserable. Yankees rained out 2 nights in a row. Drizzling rain and 48F right now. Was working on neighbors home generator in my garage, downright cold.
@dmende0919 we'll get that promised ride in as soon as weekend weather cooperates some.

Started raining here around 5:00 AM. Forecast shows rain all the way through the weekend with a slight break on Friday.

Temps have been much cooler than normal for this time of year. In fact, we're supposed to get down to the low 40s here soon.

It was well past 80, and into the low 90s just a week ago.WTH man? No riding for a little while, not even bicycles...........I commiserate.....sean

Finally nice here today, rode the old 900SS to Target Rock National Wildlife Refuge. I both timed and measured the run as I've got some buds from my old job as well as member here @Ruina joining me Saturday. This way everyone can plan accordingly. We'll have a mix of 900SS, CBR600, R6 and EX500.

18 miles as the crow flies....but 40 using selected, twisty, obscure, back road routes complete with elevation changes and various, multiple harbor/water views. On the way a surprise..a very special, obscure *pizza shop* right on the water! Around 90 minutes per way, depending on traffic and lunch break. Not to be discounted, its a physical workout, even at a semi-relaxing pace.

Once at the Refuge, a 1/4 mile trail hike/walk to beach and overlooks on Huntington Bay, if so inclined.

For history buffs...the actual "Target Rock", a giant boulder in the bay, was actually used as a target by British warships during the Revolutionary War period. http://nynjctbotany.org/lgtofc/targetrk.html

Yesterday was crap weather here. Windy, cold and raining. However, it rained off and on all day so it wasn't as bad at it could have been.

One of my old flying buddies dropped by my desk at work and said it was more like November than May outside. That pretty much summed it up.

Today was much better. No rain to speak of, but it was windy all day, and overcast & chilly in the morning. I gave a passing thought to pedaling in for National Bike To Work day but decided I'd rather ride the Ducati today.

I rode with my Scorpion mesh jacket but with one of my thermal bicycle jackets under it. That was sufficient to keep me warm on my short commute to work.

Skies had cleared by this afternoon and my ride home was warm and sunny if still a bit breezy. Nothing as sweet as how you described your ride though.....sean

Tomorrow supposed to be 70 or so, partly sunny, perfect for a small group (4 total) North Shore ride. We'll take it after such a lousy spring (so far).

Must capture the good days as they are available.

A weather TV station reported recently....it rained 26 of the last 32 days here.

The hidden gem....pizza shop right on the water. Acquainted myself with the friendly lady owner...just 10:45AM, she was very accommodating, even though opening the doors just minutes earlier. Very tasty lunch/breakfast on me.... we left her with a "we'll be back again". I perceive she'd be eager for groups of friendly, hungry, spending bikers. This place is obscure...really off the beaten track.

Just 3 of us CBR600, R6 and 900SS. A physically demanding approx 80 mile ride, I'm beat. Weather was picture perfect.

Def fun, overdue and tiring as well. Prior to retirement, I worked with the 2 other riders, good peoples.

That's great when you work other riders. Plenty to share over lunch. I don't work with any riders at the moment. I work in a hospital. Everyone thinks I am the walking dead. Too many former ER nurses. Haha

You must be loving retirement, eh?

Retired from formal work but staying active now that, thankfully, I've regained my health and energy.

While ill, my goal was to regain health to ride again, no matter what, submission was never a consideration. My excellent Doctors, RN's and caregivers offered positive encouragement. My surgeon has an HD and he'll be joining on rides, but his time obviously in very short supply. But this is another subject altogether.

Right now 3 sets of 2 fitty carbsets in the house for refurbs, a Triumph 675 Daytona in the garage for electrical "corrections".... and 3 of my own. No complaints with having a daily workload, goal and focus. Good for the soul. Its semi-casual but I set and meet (or break :wink2: ) goals for myself.

But I've been known to steal a select day during the week now and then, getting lost out on eastern Long Island alone with a red bike for company. Cool beans.

Very glad to hear you are still on the road to recovery. These things take time. But hope and focus go along way.

That said, you haven't slowed down. Your business is still going strong.

Kind of feast or famine. Trying to clear the Memorial Day backload (happens every year) I pulled a 10 hour workday yesterday....2 250 Ninja sets completed, being returned to owners this morning. Typical of the MC game...you're either too busy or twiddlin' the thumbs. But its all good...keeps *my* internal battery charged. Still love it when an owner reports his bike running great, offers great satisfaction. A 250 ninja guy reports 67 MPG with my refurbed 2 fitty carbs! Outstanding!

Haha. Sounds to me like it's still pretty steady. But feast or famine indeed.

When I went to place the order for my comfort seat, the place was dead. The employees just wanted someone to chat with.

The other day I called to check the order and they were swamped. They had to call me back. Poor kid said he hadn't even taken a lunch.

The bike business is angry an mistress. She giveth and she taketh. Haha
