These Boots are made for squawkin'

The rubber boots on the airbox are horrible to put back on. I Armoralled them and the rim of the carb mouth---also slipped the spring things as far back and right against the airbox so the rubber mouths were not irregular. Then because they were still above the carb openings I grabbed the carbs pulling them up and finally got them on after numerous times. Now I have to slither the holding springs into the slots without disturbing the connection.

If I have to take the carbs off again I'm hoping someone has an easier method. The rubbers are still pliable so they don't need replacing.

Thanks

My question to you is how pliable are they?

I've struggled in the past with boots that seemed pliable, but compared to new boots they are one heck of a fight. I bit the bullet and bought new boots, and they are the easiest thing to get on an off.
I found it the easiest to remove the battery and air box and then everything just snaps along. Trying to leave the air box it can be done but you really got to hold your mouth the right way and let the curse work slip out regularly, just saying.

actually if it's done the right way, it's no more than a 10 min job, start to finish. (assuming you already have the seat tank and side panels off. which your probably going to remove anyway.

Good suggestions---thanks---will look into new boots. Guess I'm doing it right but hopefully won't need to practice it too often.

It is a hassle, but I can still get the OEM boots on and off my '87. But, long ago, I Armoralled all the rubber bits and that makes a difference.
